the Kult by Shaun Jeffrey (Goodreads Author)
Shirley, I'm still going to try to get the Kult set up for a group read even if it doesn't win the poll that is currently open :-)
Shaun, I'll have to check out Voyeurs of Death. I haven't read a full book online yet :-)

Well Voyeurs of Death is a short story collection, so it's easy to dip in and out, especially as they're not long stories.
The Kult was optioned for film at the end of last year by Gharial Productions, and casting starts next month. Shooting is scheduled for September. I'm really excited about the project :)

I want to read it but didn't want to choose it for the current group read because both Dustin and Maicie have already read it.

If a few people want to read it, then my offer of the free copies will stand :)
Susan wrote: "Congratulations on the film, Shaun. I hope it turns out just as you would want it to."
Thanks. The director is starting a journal on the production companies website (the Director's Cut link at the top of this page): http://gharialproductions.com/

Maicie and I can comment in the discussion. Susan, you can ILL a copy of the Kult from Lafayette Public Library if you're interested or you can probably get a copy from Shaun through this event. I do want to set up a group read for this, even if it's a smaller group.
My question is timing - Those of you who are interested, would you like the group read for the Kult to overlap Vincent's and John's book say from May 15 - June 15, do you want me to put it on a poll with the ebooks, or do you want me to set up the group read for the month of July or maybe June 15 - July 15? I'm open to suggestions so, please share if you have one :-)
Maicie, Shaun & I will be commenting. Shirley, Susan, Janice H. and Nathan have already expressed interest. Anyone else?

BTW, so that anyone who wants to read it is aware of what they'd be letting themselves in for, if I had to sum up the story in film terms, it's a cross between Seven and Saw. So yes, it's a little gory I guess.
I think the Kult is more disturbing/gruesome than Kill Me and Await Your Reply if that gives any help :-)
I'm excited to hear about a sequel to the Kult in the works :-) Any idea of when it might be published? Have you chosen a title yet?
When I first started reading the Kult, I wondered, why that title was chosen (I was thinking why not a title with word "Oracle"), but now I understand. :-)

I can read "gory," manage to compartmentalize it in my little mind as unreal, but I can't watch gory stuff. And I can't even read about animal abuse, even fiction, unless it a sentence or two that I can pretty much skip over.Is my dark side showing?
I'll try the ILL request but am going to be gone for a few days so won't request it until I get back, don't want it showing up while I'm gone.

I'm the same way :-) I can read it but I won't watch it. I have never seen Saw or The Hills Have Eyes. I do like good horror films like The Ring or The Orphan once in a while though :-)

I haven't seen either of those either. I really like suspensful movies as long as there isn't too much blood and guts.
Yeah, I prefer Suspense over Horror as well. Jodie Foster is my favorite actress :-) I like Panic Room and The Brave One. I also like The Village, Dragonfly, The Others and similar films.
Dustin wrote: "I'm excited to hear about a sequel to the Kult in the works :-) Any idea of when it might be published? Have you chosen a title yet?"I've given it a working title, 'Killers', but that could change. If I can't sell it, then it might never be published. Lol
Dustin wrote: "Isn't the same publisher interested?"I had mentioned another novel to them, and they liked the idea I submitted, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.

I have posted copies to those who have said 'yes' to the group read. I will send 2 more if anyone is interested. It's a first come, first served basis, so respond quickly: http://www.goodreads.com/event/show/8... And thank you to those who have expressed an interest. Hope you enjoy the book, and look forwards to your thoughts.
Taking Dustin and myself out of the equation, there are still 2 copies available. When the counter reaches 12 'yes's, that's the copies gone I'm afraid.
For anyone still interested in reading this book, the Kult is available on Amazon.com for $9.95 and is eligible for free shipping on orders over $25

Thanks so much Shaun, I am really looking forward to reading this. It will keep me up all night I am sure, but what the heck, who need sleep when there are books to read!
I got my copy in today's mail -- thanks again, Shaun. I haven't started reading it yet, but I love the cover art. It promises good things (and by that, I mean bad things) inside.I'm going to not be able to do a lot of reading for about a week or so, but should be ready to start this right around the May 15th group start date.
Glad to hear they've started arriving. I had an email yesterday that the copy I had ordered for Nathan was cancelled by the shop I ordered from, so I ordered another copy straight away. I think all of the others have been shipped.
And for those who want a bargain PDF, it's available on Drive Thru Horror for $2.36: http://bit.ly/a7Ku7u
YEA my book came today! I think I was really starting to freak out my mailman! Can't wait to get started! Thanks again!
No problem. Hope you enjoy it. The only other problem has been with Matt's book as all he received was an empty envelope from the supplier!!!! I have had a refund for that copy, and have ordered him another one.
Just started reading it, couldn't wait 5 more days! So far, it's great, but I can tell it will give me some trouble sleeping! And on a side note, books like this are the reason I never do the same thing 2 days in a row!
"People are predictable. That's what makes them easy to kill." - the Kult, Chapter 1
note: I have added this to goodreads quotes as well as some others from the book, so search Shaun Jeffrey in quotes - if you like them, add to your favorites.
