In some ways I wish that I knew what was going to happen, but then again knowing it will be the last one I don't know that I want to know anything that will happen.
I highly recommend everyone sign up for Moning's newsletter if you haven't already. There are usually teasers, like this from March:
"Her pace quickens and she races down the corridor, passing soundlessly over obsidian floors, laughing with joy.
I know that sound. I love that sound. It means her lover is near.
He is coming. She feels his approach.
He is so powerful! It's what first drew her to him. She’d never encountered anyone like him.
She was awed that he chose her.
She is awed every day that he continues choosing her.
The stuff of him explodes through from his side in the Court of Shadows, telling her he comes, filling her home (prison) where she lives a fabulous life (a sentence not of her choosing) surrounded by everything she wants (illusions, she misses her world, so far away and all of them long dead) and waits for him with hope (ever growing despair.)
He will carry her to his big, dark bed and do things to her until his black wings open wide, so wide, eclipsing the world, and when he is inside her nothing else will matter but the moment, their dark, intense lust, the endless passion they share.
No matter what else he is—he is hers.
What is between them is without blame.
Love knows no right or wrong.
Love is. Only is."
This teaser's from February:It's funny the things people say when someone dies.
He/she is in a better place.
How the f#ck do you know that?
Life goes on.
That's supposed to comfort me? I'm excrutiatingly aware that life goes on. It hurts every damned second. How lovely to know it's going to continue like this. Thank you for reminding me.
Time heals.
No, it doesn't. At best, time is the great leveler, sweeping us all into coffins. We find ways to distract ourselves from the pain. Time is neither scalpel nor bandage. It is indifferent. Scar tissue is not a good thing. It is merely the wound's other face.
I live with the specter of Alina every day. Now I will live with this ghost, too. Walk between them, one on my right, one on my left. They will talk to me incessantly. I'll never escape, bridged between my greatest failures."
*points to cheek*Just put one right there.
Honestly, I can't tell you how obsessed I am with this series. Those newsletters get me through the months I have to wait. I think the next newsletter comes out Sunday, so ladies, sign up!!!
Here's the link: http://www.karenmoning.com/news/index...
It has been one heck of a long wait already! It's killing me! This is one of best series of all time! I started reading Moning's Highlander series to try to tide me over but it was too lovey mush mush for me!

Thanks for the link, I signed up for the scoop too.
I haven't heard about cover art, yet, but I imagine it would be soon.I also have to share this excerpt from the newest neweletter. It's too awesome not to pass along! The idea of this one makes me giddy!
"Flanking V’lane’s caste—which I assume is the highest ranking by how the other castes seem to protect it—are the stuff of fairytales. There are rainbow-colored, delicate Fae that dart like hummingbirds on gossamer wings; silvery nymphs that dance on dainty feet; and others that I can’t even see, except for blinding trailers of light they leave behind as they move. They’re so brilliant and fiery, they could only be earthbound stars.
I scoff at the delicacy of his army. They’re ethereal, born to wisp about, seduce, and be served.
Mine is earthy, solid. Born to gorge, kill, and rule.
We stalk toward each other, down a snow-filled street.
Where Seelie feet touch the earth, the snow melts with a hiss. Steam rises and flowers push up through cracks, blooming brilliantly, anointing the air with the scents of jasmine and sandalwood. The Seelie end of the street is bathed in golden light.
Where my army’s hooves and scaled bellies pass over the stones—a crust of black ice forms. The night embraces us; stealthy shadows, we ooze forward from the blackness."
At my first speed read through...I see Barron's and V'Lane going to war together, against a common enemy I assume. No wait, they "stalk toward each other" so they are fighting each other?
The last line "stealthy shadows, we ooze forward from the blackness." sounds like Barrons thing, the way he is always navigating his way through the shades like hes part of them. But then the questioning tone used at the beginning about "which I assume is the highest ranking" sounds more like Mac and her unfamiliarity with the Fae castes.
I'm so freaking confused as usual.
I'm hoping that's true, Vale. I saw somewhere that KMM said this is the longest book yet. I don't think I heard how long, though...
I read somewhere the the book was going to have three point of views.I definitely think this is Barrons and V'lane. Seelie and Unseelie.
OK I am seriously going to have to do a re-read of the first 4 books this Fall to get ready because these Shadowfever teasers are losinggggg meeeeeee.
::::stepping up to the microphone::::Hi, My name is Dren and I'm addicted to the Fever Series. I'm happy to see I'm not alone in my addiction. It's so bad -- I'm thinking about attending FeverCon in Atlanta in Oct. :)
Vale wrote: "For me to be happy with the book, it better have hundreds and hundreds of pages to fulfill all my doubts. Because so many things have to be explained in this book. And as it is the last one I would..."Seriously, if she doesn't do a lot of tying up of loose ends, I will be upset with her. and I have my doubts about that it will have a conclusive ending bcs she got a contract to start a new series. Another set of 5 books on another character which makes me think that the book isn't going to "end." so that would be another 5 years...GAH!
hahaha...yes, it's an addiction. I haven't heard anymore about the 5 more books, but some ppl were throwing it around that maybe it was danni's set or Christian or Ryodan...
I added some quotes from KMM to my profile and now I'm dreaming about Barrons. I don't want to wait anymore either. ::pout::
I'm sad that we have to wait until December for Book 5. I was really hoping that it would come out in August. Isn't a year long enough to wait for a book...why do we have to wait 18 months. :-( I guess it could be worse, seeing that I have to wait 3 years for the next Outlander book. *sigh*
Vale wrote: "Have in mind that it is the last book. I mean I'm one of those who's getting crazy waiting for book 5 but I know I'll dye of depression once it comes out because that means no more books in it. Damn!"That's true but its still torture waiting. I hope she still plans on doing a spin-off of the Fever series.
I wouldn't even mind another Highlander book. I guess she could do a book on Cristian and knock out two birds with one stone. Highlander descent but in the Fever world. YUM! Can we have another appearance from Daegus and/or Adam please!! *drool*
I am dying for December but I will be sad when it is over! I hope she gets out some more books soon! I have already read everything she has written and I need more! ha ha
Jessa wrote: "Vale wrote: "Have in mind that it is the last book. Maybe we won't have to wait another 18 months to get it. I'm just so excited Shadowfever is going to be so long. I'm hoping will get answers to all of our questions.
I got a gal to read it a work too Vale, and I was the same way, (and she loved it also, and got her sister to read it!) Still, now that she's at the same place I am it's fun talking with her about it!(Usually we just go back to ... "I can't believe we have to wait till December" and the good ol' "what the f is Barrons anyway??!" LOL!)
"1000 pages filled with Barron's dancing to tubthumping naked sounds good to me! ha ha ""You just gave me shivers! :) "
me too ;)
::dreamy sigh::
Umm, yeah, naked and dancing sums it up! I am just picturing him naked with all those tatoos! sigh....
I totally agree! Tubthumping is definitely cheesy but Barron's would look hot dancing to anything! ha ha
Vale wrote: "What's Tubthumping?"'I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down'
The song that Barrons & Mac danced naked too when she was Priya...oh the dreams I've had about that, lol!
some don't even want them to be a couple- they think he's too much a bully or too toxic at the very least. Poo on that- if he is, then she's letting herself be bullied and c'mon does anyone believe Mac would do that?? (They just don't get him.)
okay maybe "don't want them together" is too strong- it was more, they didn't see it! There was a gal over on the amazon discussion boards who voiced the above concerns and I've seen echoes of it other places. I guess they don't believe he will be or even should be her HEA...
They obviously didn't read the same books we did. There is no other man for Mac...Barrons only.I thought I also read KMM said Macs HEA may not be what we want it to be. Whatever THAT means. LOL
"I thought I also read KMM said Macs HEA may not be what we want it to be"yeah I heard comments about that too and I'm just hoping she's just trying to throw us off the scent because like I said... piiiiiiissed!!!
