Bookmark Swap-Round 2 (pictures posted, check them out!)
Is there going to be a different theme for the 2nd round? Like randomly chosen YA books, or your recipient's favorite, or an important, must-read YA book...?:)

I'm totally open for suggestions here. I'm only very loosely running this show! :-)
We could stipulate it must be an award winner (see links and partial lists here) http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
or off of our WT top ya novels list http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1.... (Hint, hint! Better add your fave book to that list now if you want to use it!)
Or what else? My only concern in having someone choose for you is that if you haven't already read the book, you will have to get it and read it before making the bookmark. I'm not against that at all, but it will definitely add some time to our turnaround schedule.
Let's discuss!! :-)
I agree, about having not read the book. OR, if your person's profile is set to private, you don't even know what they've read unless you remember comments they've made in threads.
I vote either another personal favorite or the award winner lists. It would be difficult to design a bookmark for a book I haven't read or didn't like.
I know what I want to do with my bookmark I just can't do it cause I'm not artistic or creative. Do you want a crappy bookmark cause I can do it by myself and make some awful bookmark that will put you off whatever book you're reading...forever. Well maybe not you specifically cause you might not be the one choosen for me but you get my point. Someone will be very upset!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with a little help, especially since the rules state that you could even buy the bookmark if you wanted (the horror!!)
Felina wrote: "I know what I want to do with my bookmark I just can't do it cause I'm not artistic or creative. If I was your bookmark recipient, I'm sure I'd appreciate anything you made. :D
Or maybe we can just simply ask our receiver which is their fave YA book??? I know it takes the fun out of it but it will still be a surprise on what it will look like. Or we can ask them to name 3 and we can choose one??I am only trying to help I will figure it out any which way we do it.
I like that idea Donna. I don't know if my person has read the book that I chose, but my bookmark is already done, so no backing out now!! :P
Well this is for round 2! I am in the workings of my round 1! I assume that we get another person to do it for!
Here is another idea for those of you who fear being crafty (or time for that matter) You can buiy a book mark and "upcycle" it which is to add some flair to it your own way!!!!
Donna wrote: "Well this is for round 2! I am in the workings of my round 1! I assume that we get another person to do it for!"I'd imagine so... LOL But yeah, I was mentioning a reason that it would be good for the recipient to choose the book. ;)
I think the pick three would work out okay. Hopefully then we'd have read one of them... We could all post our three here so it'd still be a surprise as to who is making it for you.We can make a final vote closer to the start of this round, so keep the suggestions coming if you think of another option!
Becky wrote: "You know I love ya Felina! If I was your bookmark recipient, I'm sure I'd appreciate anything you made. :D "Thats beautiful. :)
I'm excited! I use left over high school graduation name cards for my bookmarks. Apparently we got a case of 250 and only ordered 50 invitations. I'm so sick of seeing my name written out all fancy.
Heather wrote: "Is it ok if I just make a pretty bookmark related to a book I love? I liked how it was the first round. (even though I didn't get the participate then)"I think so, Heather. I think any variations on choosing award winners or whatever can be optional. I want it to be easy and fun to join in!
So you're making ONE bookmark or making bookmarks for the entire group? This'll help me decide if I have the time to shoot off the design to the printers. I have no printer so I typically email my stuff to Kinkos for the better cardstock.
We are doing just ONE bookmark. So you will send one, and receive one.Maybe do the group thing at a later date.
K. Sign me up.What you could do is a little bookmark questionnaire instead of pick a book off the award list.
For example, if I knew my bookmark mate liked fantasy, I might make a The Last Unicorn bookmark.
Why don't we do this round like round 1 and leave it wide open for the bookmark maker to choose the book since that was my original rule post here. If we want to do a round 3, we can make some choices about how to pick the book or if we want to make multiple bookmarks (one for each participant) and then receive multiple bookmarks. I think that'd be awesome, but I must admit that mine would be less detail oriented if I was making a dozen rather than one!
I will start a Round 3 post just for discussion's sake.
With the first round coming to an end this week, we'll continue with sign-ups through May 21st. At that time I will use www.namedrawing.com to figure out who will send a bookmark to whom!I have a list of those who have already said they'd like to participate this round on my first post in this topic. I will update it as people add. Please message me your address if I don't have it already.
Hmm... Is that something you guys want me to actively avoid? I don't want to tweak the draw TOO much or it takes the randomness away. There are 13 of us so far, hopefully that'll be enough people to mix it all up.
I'll have to stop by the craft store for supplies tonight before I can start mine... but I'm excited. :D
I'd made a "demo" of the one I thought I might use for round two, but dang! I'll have to step up my game after seeing all the pics from round one!
Looking at the pictures gave me waaaaay better ideas, but I have chosen my book. I think I like choosing ones that not everyone has read. May spark a little interest.

These are the rules:
1. You make or buy a bookmark themed around your own personal favorite YA book (but handmade is way cool!)
2. You are responsible for shipping your bookmark to your swap person at your own expense NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 4TH! Be prepared to possibly send it out of the country.
3. Have fun and be creative!!! How you represent your book on your bookmark is totally and completely up to you.
4. Open your new bookmark as a group on FRIDAY, JUNE 11TH! (optional) Take a picture of the bookmark you receive to share with the group!
The goal is pretty much to just share a book you love in an unique way. Feel free to message me your address in the meantime if you'd like, I will hang onto it and confirm your spot in the swap here.
Thanks for participating! :-)
