Strawberry. always. now and then I try to be adventurous and I end up with some shiiite with nuts and gobs of something sticky/globular. Best to stick with the fruit flavors.

I love chocolate- Rocky Road, Goo Goo Cluster.Green Tea ice cream is so refreshing and the lightest sort of decadence that can be conceived.
But no matter what flavor is used my favorite thing with ice cream was/is Ice Cream Pie. My gramma would make it especially for me when I visited. It had a regular pie crust that was filled with really hard frozen ice cream and then she would make meringue from scratch and broil the meringue covered pie in the oven. Hot meringue and cold cold ice cream in a pastry pie shell. Absolute heaven!!
My grandmother used to make homemade pineapple ice cream...it was soooo good. For commercial ice creams...I just tried Ben & Jerry's cream cheese or cake brownie thing and fell in love with it.
Does anyone remember Magic Shell? (Actually, I think they still have it at the store.) We had it when I was little... it was a chocolate syrup that you'd pour on your ice cream, and then it would harden into a candy coating. Yum.I wonder if I'd like it as much now as I did back then.
I see it on the store shelf all the time. It was fun when we were little but now I am more into more decadent toppings.
Magic Shell was a fantastic treat when I was a kid. They still have it, but either time or the recipe has changed it so that it's a little less fantastic.

Food blogger Naomi Poe has a recipe on her blog the Accidental Vegetarian that sounds like the best way to make magic shell. It doesn’t use butter, as a lot of other recipes online do, but instead uses coconut oil, our favorite multitasker! Theoretically, with the correct chocolate, you can even make Magic Shell vegan (the mind boggles at the discongruities in that statement).
Poe’s basic recipe is to simply melt together coconut oil (1 cup) and eating chocolate (1 - 2 cups), adding more chocolate than coconut oil.
At home, I found the following weights to work well for measuring out the ingredients for the Magic Shell recipe:
* 150 g finely chopped eating chocolate
* 100 g of refined coconut oil*
* pinch of salt
* I feel that using a touch of unrefined virgin coconut oil helps aid in the elusive “fake” flavor that store bought Magic Shell imparts. If you really want to go the nostalgia route, try out 80 g refined coconut oil + 20 g unrefined virgin coconut oil.
Combine the ingredients in a pyrex or glass bowl and melt in the microwave till almost, but not completely liquid. Stir to finish the melting outside of the microwave.
Pour melted mixture into a squeeze bottle or recycled pancake or maple syrup container. The mixture does not need to be refrigerated for storage. It will be liquid at room temperature in the warm summer months, and will be hard during the winter.
To reheat the Magic Shell to drizzle on your favorite frozen dessert, heat in the microwave (~ 40 seconds twice at 80% power), or sit the closed container in a cup of hot water for about 10 minutes.
I never realized you could make it at home! Now I just have to figure out which I'd rather buy: a bottle of refined coconut oil, or a bottle of pre-made Magic Shell :)Just kidding. It's always more fun to make it at home.
The Haagen-dazs vanilla honey bee is excellent. Someone makes one called Aztec Chocolate that I also love- might be H.D. again, I just look for the flavor.Maraschino cherry ice cream and mint ice cream taste really good together, but that might just be me.
I discovered that Archer Farms (the Target brand) makes a *delicious* Espresso chcolate chunk ice cream. I am now a little bit fatter and a little bit happier...
My dad and I make our own ice cream, and it doesn't really have a name. We make vanilla ice cream and then put chunks of caramel and chocolate and add a few peanuts. Then we top it off with hot fudge. It's delicious!!
I'm not a big fan of ice cream, kind of a take it or leave it kinda guy, but I made some bananas foster with vanilla bean ice cream on top...mmmm, I could develop a taste for that stuff. I might weigh 400 lbs., but it would be worth it.

OMG, you guys so make me want to run out for ice cream right now! As a kid, I loved the Strawberry Cheescake ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Then, Ben and Jerry's arrived and I couldn't get enough of Heath Bar Crunch, but then they sold their business and it just hasn't been the same...so I switched back to Strawberry Cheescake, from Haagen Daas. My dad used to make something quite good, just plain vanilla ice cream with Creme de Menthe on top...mmm...So, now I have to know, what is Bananas Foster?

Oh, Jim, I'm addicted already and I haven't even tasted it! This looks amazing! I was going to make oatmeal raisin cookies for a pregnant friend on Thursday, but knowing she has an ice cream fetish right now, I just might have to spoil her with this instead. (and me too) Thanks for the link!
Jim's link is classic bananas foster. Good job, Jim. I do mine differently, but that's just me. I bake mine in the oven and serve it on the table, dim the lights for effect and light the vanilla rum for my guests to see. I also place the bananas on top of fruit compote, often. It doesn't make any difference how you enjoy them as long as you enjoy them.
Ahh...a little theater to go with your dessert, Will? Thanks for the presentation and ingredients suggestion. I bet there's lots of ways to combine this with other companion ingredients. I like that it's so simple but it can dress up other dessert items. I wonder if this is a New Orleans specialty?
Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Frozen Yogurt... Does not give me a stomachache like heavy real ice cream does. Delish !!!
Bluebell is definitely the best brand, but flavor-wise... I'd have to go with coffee or belgian chocolate.
Ice cream is my major weakness. I few years ago my sister-in-law gave me an ice cream making machine for Christmas. Apparently she asked my husband if there was any kitchen gadget I didn't own. I don't use it very often because the results are irresistable and fattening. Our favorites are luxury vanilla (with real vanilla bean and egg yolks), espresso chocolate chunk, and mint with shaved chocolate. Hmm, I might be pulling that machine out for this weekend's dinner party!

Mine is coffee. With Butter Pecan a close second. If I feel like stuff in my ice cream I like Late Night Snack by Ben and Jerry.

Had corn ice cream (which was really good), avocado (not so much) & I can't remember what else.
