Before I plunge into all of this stuff, I just want to say thank you. Thanks so much for agreeing to discuss some of the most controversial subjects today! I am really happy that you actually wouldn’t mind doing that. Please don’t get offended by things I say, although it might appear that I am trying to be rude, it’s not that way. Somethings just don’t look right when they are typed in black and white! Thanks! ;-)
Ok. For starters…you said that “I can’t believe or have faith….b/c..my mom didn’t take me to church….” So, you can’t believe in anything that you want to if your parents don’t teach it or expose you to it? (remember, I’m not trying to accuse or push blame or anything. Just asking questions.) just because your mom didn’t take you to church doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t believe in or have faith. You have already said that you are an evolutionist. That right there is a “faith” or “religion”.
also, i do not think the way a Christian thinks because of my parents. They have taught ne about the Bible and really helped me through a lot of very hard things in my Christian walk. And I know that I wouldn’t have as much knowledge and stuff without them! But the only way that I really can understand the Truth is because God has revealed Himself to me through His Word. i have NOT been brainwashed. if anyone is brainwashed in this country, it is the kids in public schools who are being taught to be tolerant of everything and that evolution is right. i'm not saying that all schools say those things, however.
Have you ever heard the argument “You believe the way you do because of your parents and culture? If you were born a Hindu you would be hindu, right? Or if you were born in Africa worship the gods of that tribe? You wouldn’t be a Christian than. You would fully believe the way you were brought up.”
Well, that’s kind of a paraphrase but it gets the picture out there. Now, part of that is true. If I had been born in another culture I would most likely be taught those things. But, that doesn’t mean that I would never be a Christian. There are believers from almost all tribes. the only way that they are Christians is, as I have said, through God’s redeeming and merciful grace. Ok, well, that was a bit ramb-ly so… enough about that for right now. =)
Back to evolution… well, do you understand what evolution is based on? do you know the roots of it? Since you have been comparing things, what have you seen? Does evolution answer the questions in life?
I have to go but I thought I could just leave a few questions. I would also really love it if you would ask me some questions as well! =)
Then why do you think like a christain? The way you first learned about that religion must have been your parents/family. And how did he reveal himself to you? If he even did?
firstly, the only way that i really can "understand" God, the only way that i can truly believe and understand things is because God has helped me too. also, when i say "revealed Himself" i do not mean that i have seen God and that He has actually sat down and talked to me. i mean through knowledge and spirituality. and the Bible. everything that we need to know about our spiritual life is in that book. It is all about God and His plan for His creation. i can understand it because He helps me to see clearly through the lies in this world. but, i do not and can not completely and fully grasp all of God. He is out of human minds and intelligence. it is only by His guidance that we could even comprehend the Bible!yes, my parents are the ones who taught me in my younger years but that wouldn't mean that i would have to believe it now, does it? i am my own person, if you know what i mean. my parents can't "control" me. by that i mean that they can not force me to do something or believe something. no person can force another person to do anything. there are kids who grew up in Christian homes and were taught the same things as me, who are now completely turned against the Lord. they were never truly believers and saved in Jesus Christ.
i have to run, but.. does that make things a little clearer? i would be happy to explain things that i make sound confusing.. =)
So basically Bridhde you are saying that people who go to church are brain washed into not beleiving evolution? Because I know too many people who claim to be christains and yet say they bealieve in evolution,or that God created evolution, which is totally against what the Bible says, which comes from Him.
