Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments They are awesome and deserve a topic.

For anyone who likes modern issues (and is mature enough to handle some strong language and scenes of a sexual nature), I would strongly recommend Spring Awakening. It's set in Victorian Era Germany, but still hits on a lot of today's hot topics, like teen sex, teen pregnancy, suicide, aborition, sex education, authority, etc.... It's a rather epic show. It's very touching, and has awesome music.

:D

Clarence :P "Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes! How do yo measure a year in your life?...."
*sighs*
I also want to see RENT very badly.
Even though I know most of hte music to that one too. =)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments I'm really hoping my mom bring me. She's not a big fan of some parts of the story, and isn't sure if she wants to see it or not. :P

Knowing all the lines doesn't matter. I had (and still have) Spring Awakening committed to memory when I saw it. XD

message 10: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P Spring Awakening is on my list for when I'm older, but now I think it would be too big...

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments How old are you?

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments Ha ha, no problem. ;)

Yeah, I would wait a few years too. Once you're old enough, though, it's epic. ;)

message 13: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P I'm expecting it to be!
My moms seen it I think...
But my favorite musical at the moment:
*drum roll please*
LEGALLY BLONDE!!! SOOOO GOOD!!

message 14: by Tsuki (new)

Tsuki How I loooove musicals... I go to broadway every year as a christmas gift. My favorite musicals are "Phantom of the Opera", and "Les Miserable". I also enjoy straight plays like "A Man for All Seasons". ^_^

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments I almost got to see Legally Blonde on tour a while ago, but didn't. :P Oh well.

More proof that Les Mis rules the world! :D

The best straight play I've ever seen in "Doubt", followed by "Witness for the Prosecution". I haven't seen any for a while, though. The only theatre near me that did straight plays closed almost exactly one year ago. It was sad. They were amazing!

message 16: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P Yes, Les Mis does rule the world, I already know that. =)
I just haven't seen it yet.

message 17: by Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (last edited May 23, 2010 10:06AM) (new)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments Les Mis is just that awesome.

I really hope the tour adds more locations, hopefully more towards the Northeast. At the moment, I'm trying to think of a way to get down to Baltimore next March. Probably through a college visit. XD Why does it have to be 10 hours away?

message 18: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P You have to drive ten hours to see a show?
I have to drive like, 45 minutes! (well, my parents have to drive that long)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments At the moment, that's how far I would have to go to see the show. Justin Scott Brown + Les Mis + Visiting one of my top college choices = a very good March

It's not insane. *denial* I literally am willing to go great distances for the shows I love. Unless there is another Spring Awakening tour stop, I will be going four hours down to Long Island to see it.

message 20: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P That's soooo awesome.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments I'm curious............do you watch Glee?

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments The Spring Awakening tour had its last show tonight. How pathetic is it that I've spent all day listening to the cast album, crying, and writing my final fan letter to them?

message 23: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P THE LAST TOUR SHOW EVER???
I sure hope not...
but oh well, guess I'm gonna have to go to New York. Ah, darn.

I do not watch glee, I wish I did, but alas, my parental units do not allow me too. =(

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments There's going to another tour starting next October, though I'm not sure how long it'll last. It's going to be a new cast, though, which makes me very sad, and sort of happy. I've seen some videos of the new cast, and they all fiercely rock, but I've really fallen in love with this cast. And the new tour isn't coming near me any time soon. Oh well, it'll either mean a four hour (one-way) road trip over a weekend in April or a two hour trip on a school night.

It's not in New York anymore either! :( (Grumbles about how unfair it is that Spring Awakening only lasted a year and a half while Rent lasted around 10 years....SPRING AWAKENING IS BETTER THAN RENT!)

Oh well, maybe your parents'll be less strict about it when you're older.

message 25: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P Yeah, they wish I could see it, and they let me come out during the muscial numbers. Yay! That's good.

NOT ON BROADWAY?!?! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO?!?!?
I will definetly see both once I am old enough too.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments Ha ha, at least you get to see the songs. :D Some of the actors on the show are from the original cast of Spring Awakening.

My thoughts exactly. :P

I hope it's still touring once you're old enough. You're going to love it. It's such a gorgeous story.

message 27: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P It WILL be touring once I'm old enough. That's fact.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments I hope so. I need to see it more than twice. XD I won't even consider the possibility that I've see it enough until I've seen it 20 times (which I will), and I'll probably keep seeing it anyways. :D The energy in the show is amazing. Some of the songs are just like an explosion of rock onstage. :D

message 29: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P yeah, I looked some of them up on the youtube. =)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments What videos have you watched? I could recommend some good ones that don't have any swears or explicit content. ;)

message 31: by Clarence :P (new)

Clarence :P Well...
charlieissocoollike
nerimon (reading Twilight, hahaha!)
Nigahiga
Owlssayhooot
fiveawesomegirls
italktosnakes
and then I was watching some music videos by Nickelback.
And I listened to this prank call a guy did to Walmart. It was funny.
What did you want to recommend?

message 32: by Annie (new)

OK I'm so glad I found this thread, I am a Guilty One
Next weekend I'm going to ask my aunt to take me to the show in Ft. Worth
I could ask my mom (I'm 17 and we have a great relashionship (sp)) but I personally wouldn't be comfortable sitting through it with her

PS, Why isn't there a goodread group for this wonderful musial

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments Ack! I am so jealous! I'm not seeing it again until April! Parts of it were a bit awkward with my mom, specifically "My Junk", with Hanschen jerking off center stage.

I'm not sure how many fans of the show are on goodreads. I've thought of starting a group several times, but that's always held me back.

I need to see a show again so badly. I haven't seen anything since early June. I'm going into severe withdrawal!

Cody (rolinor) | 441 comments I really dont like musicals not that there is anything wrong with them I just am not a very musicy person.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 963 comments What musicals are you familiar with? What music do you like? I honestly believe that there is a musical for everyone. They're not all stereotypical showtunes.

message 37: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) | 441 comments honestly I onlt really like movie soundtracks and only good movies like lord of the rings because I can imagine the movie happening and feel like im watching it you know what I mean
