Some of my friends had a run in with a pirate the other day.
She said that she'd snagged our books from public domain sites, which is why she thought it was all right to make copies and sell them.
Unless an author is dead, and has been dead for 70 years, chances are, her books are not "Public Domain".
If a book is the newest bestseller (not counting on Kindle's list) the chances are, the author still hopes to make an income on sales of that book.
