Martha Kathy,

Snow is on my to-read list but that's not why I am writing. I had no idea what a Kindle was so I checked it out on Amazon.com. It looks totally awesome. Have you read anything else on it? Do you like it better than a book? When did you get it and has it been out for long? I am so "print-oriented" and have never read an ebook or only listened to a couple of books on tape. I have a 15-year-old reluctant reader and think this might be a great incentive. Please let me know what you think. My email is rosemdp@comcast.net in case you'd rather correspond that way.

Books have a romance and loveliness that you will never experience on an electronic device. Riding the bus or sitting in a cafe you will sometimes see someone open a book they have just bought, carefully flatten it a little, carress the new pages while they breath in the new book smell. You can't do that on a Kindle. Kindles can be hard on the eyes if you read a long time,
But.
You can change print size on a Kindle. You can take fifty books on an airline with you. You can subscribe the the New York times and read it in line at the bank. You can take out popular books for free from the library, even if you aren't in your city. You can carry fifty books on vacation. A Kindle allows you to highlight good passages and then look them up later.
You can keep one in your bag and pull it out when you sit down to have a coffee or are riding the bus or just waiting for someone. You can read a Kindle book in the dark. The page corners don't curl.
So, yes. They are awesome. The batteries last for a long time. The screens are better than notepads or smart phones.
You can get word definitions or explanations of concepts.
I'd suggest the small one . It's not a replacement for books but an addition. U recommend them.
