Hello, my name is Ashley and I am 22 years old. I'm currently in college, studying to be a teacher. I love to read. I read a good 2-3 books per month. My favorite genres are memoirs, young adult, sci-fi/fantasy, and glbt. I love the show Reading Rainbow. I used to watch it when I was a kid. I would watch it now but I dont know what time or channel it is on these days.

As for my intro - I'm Janelle, I'm a 30yr old social worker living in Grand Rapids, MI. I was an English and Sociology dual major in college, planning to become a high school English teacher until social work found me. Reading is still a big hobby of mine. I'm usually reading a few books at a time, as the mood hits, finishing about 1 a week. I like the classics, plus memoirs and bios, travel lit, popular fiction, some chick lit, sci fi, thriller, detective novels. I'm always up for recommendations and add them to my ever-growing "to-read" list on GoodReads.
My name is Kathy, I'm a 29 year old part time stay at home mom. I have a 2 year old son, who loves to read with me. We watch PBS religously. I loved Reading Rainbow when I was younger and now I watch it with my son regularly. My favorite genre right now is chic-lit and soft core mysteries. My goal is to read Agatha Christie. I have a lot of her books, but, I have not read any of them yet. I should say that I have a VERY active imagination and so for my precious sleep I try to stay away from all things to scary.
Hi, My name is Lisa. I am a fulltime non trad student studying towards eventually getting my masters. I am 41 and mom of 3 Nana to 1. Reading Rainbow was a pbs favorite for my kids and now I find myself watching it again with my grandson.
I somehow connected to it from your profile site. It was by accident, I am still pretty green at navigating these websites. :-)
Hello! My name is Krista and I'm a librarian at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. I'm obsessed with children's and YA books, and read them more than anything else. I love "Reading Rainbow" and watch it whenever I can catch it. Levar Burton's enthusiasm and willingness to explore and learn new things is contagious. I've read at least 3/4ths of all the RR books, which I'm happy to discuss with this group. Our college library has a children's collection, conveniently located across from my office and which I started from scratch. I try to order as many RR books as I can find in print. Sadly, some of my favorites are out of print. I was hoping that, with new episodes being filmed, the books would come back into print. When I can tear myself away from children's and YA books, I like to read mysteries (especially historical mysteries), historical novels, classics, science fiction, fantasy, horror, biographies, and non-fiction on a wide variety of subjects. I belong to 2 book discussion groups at my local public library, and 6 here on GR. I'm so happy to have discovered this group!
Hi all! My name is Heidi. I'm a librarian in Virginia. I received my MLIS a year ago from Drexel, and before that I had received my BA in English at BYU. I am a Reading Rainbow child, my mother seeing the value of it and raising her 8 kids with it. I would love to own episodes--particularly from "my day," but $40 an episode on DVD is too steep for me!I love children's and YA books. I keep saying that I want to be a YA/children's librarian, possibly in a school. But as I have limited experience, I'm not sure if I really would want that! I'm excited to be in a group with fellow R.R. fans.
Hello Heidi and welcome!
Just so you know there are a variety of ways to access old episodes - many clips can be found on YouTube, you can listen to the books being read on the Reading Rainbow site - http://pbskids.org/readingrainbow/, and our PBS station still runs old episodes twice a week. Check out the PBS website and you may find that yours does too.

Hi everyone, my name is Amber. I am a stay-at-home mom to three children. Aged 5, 3, and 2. I am home schooling my kids and going to college myself now. I am hoping to get a degree in something related to reading, nut have not decided what yet. I have always been a reading freak. My grandmother used to let us watch reading rainbow, and as an adult, I watch it with my kids now.
Hi everyone! My name is Jane, and I'm a 23 year old library worker in New Jersey with a major case of Reading Rainbow nostalgia. I've been mocked before for referencing things from past episodes (how can you go to the Crayola factory and not think of that one episode?) and was thrilled to find this group.
I was a HUGE fan of Reading Rainbow as a kid. My favorite episodes were LeVar Burton's birthday episode and the T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K! episode.
Hello! My name is Ronyell and I'm 21 years old and I am currently attending college and I am a Business Administration major. I remember I used to watch Reading Rainbow all the time when I was small and I loved it ever since! I'm so glad there is a fan club on Reading Rainbow because it was one of my favorite shows!
