I'm not sure what you're starting either, but I'll hang out for a while and see. I've become an e-book person myself--it's my preferred way to read, my own books are out in e-book format and doing well. It looks like the future to me! Not sure how much time I'll have for this (I read all kinds of stuff), but what the heck? Best wishes, Geoffrey!
I'll come play. I love to read on my Kindle. I read a lot of other genres too but I definitely enjoy reading fantasy and science fiction. I would read more of it except there is so much of it out there I never know what's really good. So this kind of group is great for me.
I think I may be out of my depth here. I'm not that big on fantasy and barely up on sci-fi, despite having written a popular lite sci-fi series (Distant Cousin). Reading books on a schedule is a problem for me, since I frequently have to review books for an indie book website. If I lay low for a while I hope no one will mind.
Al - (BTW, I've had 'Distant Cousin' on my TBR list for a couple months now ....) lurking is good. In the other SF/F Book Club I often read the ones I'm interested in and join in the conversations if and when I please.
I'm thinking if we talk about a book over the course of a month, no one need to feel pressured to read by a certain date .....

OK; that's cool. Thanks! BTW, may I assume everyone knows about the KindleBoards.com? It's a large, friendly, bargain-oriented yet diverse bunch of happy Kindlers. They've certainly taken to Distant Cousin (http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php...).I've found lots of good books by asking around there.
I'm not that active at all on Goodreads, but I read about this group on KindleBoards, and figured I would join and see what happens.
I'm here from Kindleboards! I'm a huge sci-fi fan but don't usually participate in reading clubs, so we'll see what happens.
Hi all,Glad to be here & will do my best to keep up with the discussions [limited time though, you all know what I mean:].
Geoffrey I think this is a really cool idea, obviously as a fantasy writer I love, love, love the genre.
Cheers,
Trace
Oh & I definitely 2nd the comment re KindleBoards - the people there are amazing.
I have never been part of a book club but I love Scifi books. I loved Distant Cousin and did not realize it is part of a series. I posted a comment about the book of the month and I hope to hear others opinion about the book.
There are currently four: Distant Cousin (DC1), Distant Cousin: Repatriation (DC2), Distant Cousin: Reincarnation (DC3), and Distant Cousin: Regeneration (DC4). They're in Kindle format at Amazon (with lots of reviews) and a whole wad of other e-formats at Smashwords.com (with a couple more reviews). Got into a rut with the titles. The main character, Ana Darcy, has a blog, too (www.anadarcy.blogspot.com), with photos, maps, recipes, music, poetry, interviews, and so forth. Sorry for all that, but you did bring it up!
G’day all… just popped over from Kindleboards. I’m a big Sci-Fi / Fantasty reader ( around 95% of my reads are SF/F) I’m looking forward to some interesting times
Beware of dog: the Nogginator is here! With one manuscript and one printed book I'm committed to reading and reviewing this month, I probably won't be participating in this month's "assignment," but maybe next month?
Thanks for starting this group. I love reading on my Kindle, because living in a foreign country it's my only really feasible way to read English books. Though now that I've been reading on it, I'm not sure I'd go back to print books anyway. And I echo the sympathies of book groups reading good books that I can't get on my Kindle :(
Hi there. I hope that those of you from KindleBoards can recognize me without the dog avatar. KB is the only place I use him. Everywhere else I use the bad picture of me. Geoffrey I am delighted to join this effort.
Love both SF and Fantasy.
And we should get Al's books on the list sometime. I have already finished the first and am working my way through the second.

I play in a few other book clubs but I often find that a group's monthly selection isn't available in eformat. So I thought I'd create something and see what happens with it. I was thinking that we could do a book or two each month and limit it to just ebooks ...
So, what do you think? Good Idea? Sucky idea? tell me your thoughts.
