I love this book! It's funny, cute, suspenseful, and I think the next books will be even better! I can't wait till others have finished so we can chat about it. :D
It actually reminded me of a lot of other ya paranormal books I've read. A young girl who is a witch is sent to a school for "special" students. But there was always something going on & every chapter seemed to end in a cliffhanger so I didn't want to put it down. Plus theirs a couple really good twists that I didn't see coming which always makes things interesting.
I bought it while in Cali. I need to get started on it, but Bullet came in today so I'm not sure which one I'll read first. Why is it that I spent the whole last week of May trying to put off Hex Hall so I could read in June with everyone else only to get to June and now be completely distracted by other books? It happens every month. =) I think it's funny. (Granted it's day 2 and I'm already worried that I don't have the book read.)
lol, Heather... I know what you mean. I do that all the time. I just *had* to get The Help but it's been sitting on my shelf for 2 months now. lol I think for me, it depends on what reading mood I'm in at the time.

***Spoiler*** pg. 7
I just started it and I have to say I love the comment about the Carrie prom. It was predictable, but it was cool that the guy just stood there and enjoyed it.

Okay, I finished the story. I liked it and I didn't like it. I felt parts of it to be campy. Normally I'm okay with that, but I expected more from this for some reason. I did manage to guess what was going to happen about half way through. I liked the idea of the school, but I wanted there to be something more exciting to the story. I felt like there was a lot of down time that could have been used more effectively. Some times I loved the dialogue and other times it made me feel like I was a 12 year old.
I will definitely try book 2, but I won't buy it. I really did enjoy parts of the story and the overall idea of it all, but I felt like there were missed opportunities that would have made the book more exciting.

I just finished this and I thought it was pretty good! I am curious what happens next and will most likely pick up the second book which is Demonglass and comes out in March. I don't know if I'm not very bright or what but like I was discussing with my fiance just recently I don't generally know what is going to happen next in a book and this was no except unlike Heather I didn't guess what was going to happen and was suprised by a few different developements... the main one was I did NOT guess what Alice was, I'm still pretty suprised!
Angela, I do the same thing. I don't figure it out until later on, but that is okay with me because it make a book so much better. I really try not figure it out just so I will be surprised how things turned out. Overall, I thought the book was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters and like Heather said was "campy" in some spots. But I still wanted to finish it and look forward to next book.
I'm still not sure what "campy" means in comparison the books but that's ok! I'm glad I'm not alone Lydia I don't really want to know what happens before it does, why finish it up then?
I haven't read this one yet, but with other books I usually don't guess what's going on before it happens either. :)
I don't like to know either, but it was one of those times where you just know.
There were just a few parts that seemed a little overdone or artificial. Maybe cheesy...Normally I'm all for cheesy as long as it's cute, but for some reason I didn't go for it with this book. I think it's because I heard such good things from everyone that I expected it to be AMAZING!!! Sometimes something that's good doesn't seem that way when you expect it to be better. (If that makes sense.) Hence, why I'm still going to stick with the series. I think I just had higher expectations and felt like something was missing because of those expectations. If I hadn't heard anything at all I probably would have been fine with the book.

^^ I totally get what you are saying. It happened to me with Shiver. Everybody was raving about how amazing it was and I just felt let down after finishing. I love when you find books none of your friends have read and you absolutely adore them. It's like you aren't expecting anything going into it, so you just enjoy the ride. That happened to me with the Megan Berry books, Night Huntress (at least until I forced them on all my friends, lol), and the Gardella Vampire books. But then I feel sad that they are not more popular since they are great (at least to me they are, lol). About Hex Hall. I read it the week it came out so I wasn't expecting too much. I really loved reading every bit of it. I did figure things out pretty easily, but that is normal for me so I try not to get too upset about it.
I've never read of the Megan Berry or the Gardella Vampire series. I also haven't read Night Hurtness...I need to get to these don't I?
Lol, I would say so. Night Huntress is pretty popular, and amazing. Megan Berry is very light, but extremely funny and action packed. It's very much like Buffy, but with zombies. Gardella Vampires is not very well known either, and it is like Pride & Prejudice with vampires (and vampire slayers).
I just finished book 4 of the Night Huntress series and have been extremely pleased with this series. It has great characters, one of the HAWTEST males, and a kick-ass heroine. This series is more actioned packed, great story lines and a mix of romance. You should definatly read the first book and see how you lilke it.
The first Megan Berry book has been on my to-read pile for a while, I've just never gotten around to it. =/The first book in the Gardella series is now on my to-read shelf. :)
Angela - Pick up the Night Huntress series ASAP. You'll kick yourself for not getting to it sooner.
*looks at her piles of books at home* so many books so little time! I might buy the first one for my kindle as soon as I knock out....hmmmm 5 books that I already own
I wish I hadn't bought this book about two months ago, because then I'd download it on my Nook. :) I love reading on my Nook so much that I don't really feel like reading a real book, LOL. Oh well, soon I'll have to go back to hardcovers so I can read this. =]
I am about half way into it and so far I'm loving it its something a little different but still familiar and this author is really funny I know that I will be reading the next book.
I love it got 100 more pages to go. have to say so far none of the characters are unforgettable but they are all pretty good.
I'm adding names to the top of the list as you finish. Make sure I've gotten your name and didn't accidentally miss you.
Heather I haven't finished this one yet, am still waiting for it from the library, am #11 on the list, with 8 copies. Not sure if I will get it this month, but I will read it.
K. For some reason I thought you had already read it. Thanks for letting me know. I understand the library issues.
So guys the 2nd book has two different names on Goodreads . Which one is the real one. PS. didnt really care for the ending.

So Heather knows who read it and not in order to tally points; look at incentive to read, under the "welcome" section in the group.

So He..."
O ok thanks !
*Spoiler Alert*I was so upset when I found out that Elodie and her other friends had killed Holly and sacrificed her for their Demon rising. Smh I was also a little upset at the ending of her wanting to just give up and go into Removal so that she wont be a demon. She was saying she wouldnt leave her friends but if she goes there she could be committing suicide. I hope in the next book what ever its called she decides not to do it. Also Archer is a Warlock and a member of the Eye and thats like the Mythical version of the KKK. How does that work im anxious to find out. Its like me being Black and being a member of a racist hate group it just makes no sense.
***Spoiler***
It's possible that the demon set it up so that it would appear to her and he's not really a member. I'm not sure what will happen.
The person with the most points at the end of the year will get a gift. We just started this month so feel free to participate. The monthly reads, and extra challenges are where you'll get the points. The only one that has a set time period is the TBR challenge.

SPOILER ALERT!Just finished it. I think Archer isn't really a member of the Eye. I doubt if Sophie will go through the Removal, that'll be the end of the series. Frankly, it's a little Harry Potter-ish to me.

Ooops, sorry! I thought that since I posted it after the spoiler alert post that it will be read after it.
So I finally sat down and finished this book, and I have to say, I loved it! I can't wait for Demonglass to come out. Does anyone know when it's supposed to? I really want to know what's going on with Archer, and what will happen to Sophie.I agree, Rachelle879, that it is a little Harry Potter-ish, but I really like that about Hex Hall.
I loved that Demons were incorporated into the book, but my favorite thing about it has to be Archer. ;)
