message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

No you wouldn't. It basically letting everyone know why you liked the book or/and didn't.

message 6: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments Angela, I don't think you'd disappoint! I've read a lot of your opinions on things and I like them, even if I don't agree. I think you have good support for them. Plus, reviews are very personal. Its strictly what you feel as the reader and why. I think you would do excellent.

message 7: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I'd be happy to. I could review several...let me know what you're in need of!

Jencey/ (jencey) Hissy Fit A Novel by Mary Kay Andrews

2005 Hissy Fit

This book is a great read. I really enjoyed the book and found I could hardly put it down. Mary Kay Andrews wrote a great story! Here comes the story of Keeley Murdock and the shock she experiences at the rehearsal dinner the night before her wedding. The shock is enough to cause a huge hissy fit which Keeley takes out on her fiancée in front of most of the town. She gains a client the next day for her interior design business while she finds her business shunned by the rest of the town. The only business comes from a client she met after leaving the party that night and he gives her the task to have his home ready by Christmas.

Jencey/ (jencey) Mine Are Spectacular! by Janice Kaplan

MINE ARE SPECTACULAR 2008

Janice Kaplan the writer of The Botox Diaries has written another great book. This story is about three women and their friendship. Kate is a Dermatologist who is famous for her practice and her activities in the bedroom. Berni is the former Hollywood agent who is looking for new opportunities. Then there is Sarah who is engaged to be married about to inherit a new family. Sara has the courage to move forward after her ex-husband comes back into the picture and a possible television career. These women are all in their forties and experiencing new beginnings. The message of this book is that anything is possible no matter what they age. I really enjoyed this book. I would read another book by this author.

Tuesday is our guest review day for posts.

I'll start a sign up for Tuesdays.

Same as before... Post your name and what book you think you will be reviewing. Then post the date that you want.

message 16: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) From what you wrote above I guess you don't want anything new today then? I was going to post two new releases I am excited about, but I can wait until next week. I also got a note from my boss at chicklitclub.com. We are teaming up with two other sites to promote chic lit. We are to think of ideas for supporting it. I thought I would share this with the group. What about contests put on by authors? Is that something that can also be posted to the blog?

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

You can create a file in the promotions folder. No problem. It sounds pretty cool that they are expanding the interest.

You want to sign up for the 15th?

Jencey/ (jencey) The promotion for Chick Lit isn't until May of next year but thought I would go ahead and bring it up. She wants us to come up with ideas for promotions.

message 21: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) Okay I will sign up for July 27th. So is it one guest reviewer for each date? Just wondering?

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Yup, only one post a day. Nobody wants to step on another's toes.

Plus if you have mutli posts it seems to build up too fast and followers don't read the posts.

message 23: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments I have a reviewer for August 31st Lyss. Tiffany. I will let her know.

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments We will be starting a new list for September as all of the previous months are now full.

message 25: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) Crazy fun! :) I'm excited to be a part of this!

message 26: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments Also, all guest reviewers. For the blog we are going to start a list of all the books that are going to be reviewed by guest bloggers so those who come later don't plan on their book and then someone else ends up doing it before them. Right now I already have someone reviewing

Fly Away Home: A Novel by Jennifer Weiner. I will send emails to all those on the guest reviewer list and I would like everyone to reply and let me know their review picks.

We allow a review of most any book, as long as the blog content on the review is clean and appropriate. The book itself does not have to be, but if it is not, please put a disclaimer above the review stating

**Contains (whatever the book contains, ex. scenes of sensuality etc...)

We will be in touch! :D

message 27: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) Jen just curious but how can you get a copy of a book prior to its release date? (Jennifer Weiner book)

message 28: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments I don't know. Some people have connections and some people win advanced reader copies.

message 29: by **Carla** (new)

**Carla** I am excited about being a gueat reviewer.....I am going to have to go to the library and look for something extra extra special to read and review lol....I LOVE BOOKS!!!!! hahahahah........sorry going a little crazy today:P

message 30: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) The reason I asked was because for the website I write for. I was asked to do a book that hadn't been released yet and I couldn't get my hands on a copy and then lost the review. I just wondered if you had any additional insight.

message 31: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments I know that blogs that have a very high following usually get picked for Advanced Reader Copies. You submit your stats to publishers for the blog and then receive copies for review in the hopes that your followers will read it. I've seen people with 100 followers get ARC's. If the website you write for has excellent stats and high following, I would probably request the stats and send it to a slew of publishing houses with requests for the book. Also, if you don't already have one, I would create a review policy and send it with the stats and request for ARC's. Other than that, entering every contest you find might work, but the likely hood is low. Hope this helps.

message 32: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) Thanks Jen. This is really helpful. I asked my boss but she was not real helpful. You have helped in so many ways.

message 33: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments Your welcome :D Glad I could help. It's nice to be useful.

message 34: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (cozyreaderscorner) | 17 comments what book were you trying to get? Most places that have you review books not yet released are the ones responsible for obtaining them. Most publishers will not just release to anyone who ask for them without some sort of credentials.

Most definitely, anyone interested. Story Siren had a post about it last year with the most wonderful information on what publishers are looking for when they hand out advanced copies.

Here is the link: http://www.thestorysiren.com/2009/11/...

Good luck :D

Indeed. Send any review you would like to offer to the email address above.

We do not have any reviews on the Lesbian Romance Genre. If you had any available for that it would be a great opportunity to get one posted for that genre.
