Sorry I didn't get back to this! I did read it, and I did enjoy it, and would recommend it. Wouldn't say it's the best it could've been, but I def. thank you for the recommendation. :)
True, it's not the best, but definitely an enjoyable read. The key for me is not all LGBT books need be heavy. Finding some that are just enjoyable is important.
That's certainly true. Humor enhances almost everything, anyway - like the 'spoonful of sugar [that] helps the medicine go down.' And Juby put in a few clever bits for sure. I'm remembering it better as I type, though. I do recall I thought the experiences of the female friend were pretty intense/ heavy....

I loved how realistically it dealt with the coming out of its main character.
I also love the acceptance he found in most of his family and also the realism of his father having to come to terms with his son being gay.
