Cover to Cover Challenge discussion

Actually, I've been finished since May. But, since there wasn't any mention of this folder til now, I didn't post here.

SO--all finish, but I'm still keeping track of my numbers, just to see how many I read in a year.

Wow, congratulations!

I am all finished too. Read 144th book on 30th May. I will keep posting as I have never recorded my reading habits before and love that I get a complete list of the titles I have waded through this year.

I have found two excellent new authors through the group threads. Ariane Franklyn/Diana Norman and Eileen Wilks. I am also happy to see many of my favourite books and authors featured in the lists.

Good luck to those who are still working their way through the 144

Well you know that being out of work sure gave me a lot of free time. But I am happy to give that up now.

@ Jackie ~ There are still books around for me to read, lol, but I did find myself reaching to those that might interest me more instead of always reading those that I know would interest me. But that was good too.

@ Darcy, this is what I like most about these groups. I find I am reading books I never would have picked up in a million years. I will be happy if I make the "144", but at this rate it is not seeming likely.

This is the first time that I have tracked my books. I know in the past I have read a lot, but would never have guessed how many. Had I not been doing that in this group I would not have thought I would be at the number I am.

I've been tracking my books for the past 3 years. Since shortly after I found GR. I love that I can look back on what I've read over the years. But that's partly because I'm a little OCD and I like to make lists. lol

This is the first year I have tracked the number of books I have read, so it will be interesting to track it year after year.

I finished back in April. My goal is 500 for the year now. I've read close to 290 so I figure I might make it.

I finished up on the 1st (the last two chapters of the book I'd been working on), so now i'm going for the 288

I just finished my 144th book on Aug 31. Yay!
Now I want to see how many I can read in a year. I definitely can't make the 288, but good luck to those who are going for it and congratulations to eveyone that's finished their 144!!!

Donna and Darcy - 500 is very impressive. I'll have to look up your lists at the end of the year. With that many books there are sure to be quite a few ideas for me in there. Do you review or rate them all too?
Edit- I just went through your shelves and answered my own question. My TBR is growing fast! :)

Since I have found GR, I review all the books that I read. I only rate the ones that I have read before joining the site.

I don't usually review most of what I read. I view it as cutting into my reading time. Some I review--if they made a big impression on me (or if they were just too horrible for words) but mostly I just give them stars.

Last year, when I found GR, I reviewed them all. Then, I got behind and I started just rating them unless they are really exceptional. When I catch up on my TBR list, I hope to start writing brief reviews again.

I finished my 144 as of Sept 15. :-)

I try to rate all books, don't review very often, unless I have immediate thoughts on why I loved or hated a book

Dee--I've been going over to review to put in the date that I finished a book--IF its one that I've just finished reading. If its one that I've just remembered the title to (or that someone has found the title to for me) then I don't bother. But like you--I only write a review if its something that I feel a really good urge to do.

For those who aren't in the 3 groups that Yz heads up--she can really get the old book lovers juices flowing with some of her ideas for challenges.

I DID write one for The Hunger Games simply because I enjoyed it so much (and it reminded me a LOT of the Legend of the Minotaur) so I mentioned that too. Can't wait to finish off my challenge reading so that I can get on to the next 2 books in the Hunger series. Er and the rest of the series that I just found from the challenge for this month that Yz gave us. Man, she comes up with some doozies, doesn't she? I ALWAYS wind up with like another 30 or 40 books added to my TBR pile after one of her super challenges.

I'm all finished too..I'm in the 200's, but several of mine have been mangas. Although I count these in my books, I'm still counting to make sure I get in 144 novels. I know my novels still outway my manga, but I've read a lot of manga this year! I'll probably get in at least 15 more books before the year is out! Good job everyone and congratulations to all who made it to 144 and beyond!

I know right! better yet is if you do the Seasonal Reading Challenge...wow they come up with some doozies over there...but they are a lot more picky about what books fit what categories...but if it wasn't for them, I never would have picked up The Cookbook Collector, which is the last book I wrote a review for

I finished September 5th. But I'm going for 200 now and If I hit that I'll try for 225.

I'm all finished now. Took me 9 months exactly, finishing on 30th September! I'm going to try for 200 now, I think.

I finished up this week but will keep tracking my 2010 reads in this list. I wonder how much time I've spent reading this year?

I'm done with my 144, but I'm certainly not done reading for the year. I just feel so good having accomplished that goal!
