I don't know if you did this on purpose, however, I laughed out loud when I read about Puck's transformation and he could not seem to keep his hands off his ummmmmm manhood! No matter what the species, it seems, boys will be boys! This is not intended to be offensive in any way, it is something that just struck me.
LOL!!I wanted to have a really open sexuality to the series. I tried to keep it tasteful, but at the same time, I wanted it out there. Puck was fun to write about in that sense!
This is a thread where SPOILERS may occur, correct?********SPOILER ALERT********
Interesting about Puck, though. I knew something was up with him, but did not know what it was going to be or what to expect. So, I was taken by surprise when his other identity was revealed.
Oh, good! That's another part to the characters: I didn't want their motivations to be too obvious. I wanted to keep you guessing. And in his particular world, hardly anyone is what they seem. :)
Yeah, no kidding. I can not wait to read what others have to say about the characters and the story. I am new to the fantasy genre and am not sure what to expect. I do know that I liked this one. I just finished American Gods and did not care for it so much.
I didn't really have a favorite character, and this was part of why I felt distant from the book.I think my two favorite characters would've been Orenda and Paine but, as I said in another thread, I didn't like the ending with Paine... and I never quite connected with Orenda enough to really call her a favorite.
I liked some the secondary characters, like Diarmiud and Little Doe - but they were thin and minor so, again, while I liked them, I never truly connected with them.
Have you considered a creating a character list on your website? Kind of a who's who, perhaps? And add if they are Firstborn, Fey etc...I have to admit that I was confused more than once and reading on the kindle makes it difficult to page backwards for reference.
I'd have to say I like Lya the least. Her actions from the beginning were creepy. Of course one we realize that she is the Beast it becomes clearer why I disliked her. I was also not fond of Truitt (I hope I remember the name correctly) for his disdain towards other peoples.
Pam, you're not the first person to request a list of characters. I've also been requested to include a glossary of the various races, etc. I'm working on that now. I think it's a great idea!Lya is an interesting character for me, and I've been enjoying writing from her POV (for the next book).
If you were a fan of Orenda (or not), what did you think of her ability as a soul runner, and of her twin souled dilemma? Would you like to see her freed of Sephirah's soul or continue to see them combined?
I like Orenda's ability as a soul runner and the fact that her brother could do that as well. As to Sephirah's soul residing within I'm of two minds about it. I think I'd like to see the two souls continue to deal with their issues before any separation would occur.
Well, it sort of solidified all the problems I had with the system of magic - the way it was predicated on killing things. And it was just so heart-breaking when Fang killed her son. I felt for her a little bit, because she didn't want to do it... but I sympathized more with the one getting killed. And then the staff was useful for one big thing, before it broke - but, while it worked, it gave Paine enough awareness of his own power to basically allow him to go the 'bad way' (for lack of a better term) at the end.
Yes, I sympathize with animals more than people in stories...
Though I did wonder what Fang was.
Oh, aside from that, the whole thing with her bringing over the staff and getting the blood onto it. I was mildly amused trying to picture the logisitics of this in my head.
Interesting. It's a limitation of living as a being with four paws instead of hands. One that she doesn't like. :)
I thought Lya was a kick ass character, and I'll be looking forward to seeing her go hog wild now that she's been outed as the Beast. Also, I will say that one of my very favorites was her father, Dior. Man, that dude is chilling.

Let's discuss.
One of my favourite characters is Friar John, simply because of the darkness of his character and the regrets he lives with.
How about you?
