I'm sorry, I know, that term is really not ok. But read this post:
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com...
and you know it is in context. Holy laugh machine.

message 2: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments That was hilarious! My dogs are not retarded, but one is defiant and stubborn as hell. The other one talks ALL.THE.TIME. and she sounds like Chewbacca. It really freaks people out.

message 3: by Heidi (last edited Jul 06, 2010 10:48PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I asked Robby if he's slow and got this look:

Robby

I'm not quite sure what to think of it.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I asked Bulldog if he was retarded, he gave me a distainful look meowed & walked off.

message 5: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments My wife says one of my dogs is a "dog with autism". She's a special education teacher and says he has autistic traits...I just think he's spazzy and hyper-sensitive, but I like him. The other dog is needy and friendly. I like him, too.

message 6: by Lori (new)

Lori What a delightful read upon wakening! Stupid retarded adorable dog!

Now I'm gonna try some of those tests. I'll report back later. I'm thinking Raider will pass with flying colors, but but hmmm.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I asked my lab Maggie if she was retarded, and she took a shit on the carpet. Got my answer.

(I'm so kidding, Maggie didn't do that. If anything, Maggie's too damned smart for her own good. I seem to be surrounded by children and pets that seem to want to outsmart me at all times.)

message 8: by Lori (new)

Lori What kind of dog, Barb? I'm picturing a pug.

message 9: by Lori (new)

Lori Ohhhhhh, what kind of terrier?

There sure is a surge in all the Poos, they are mixing poodles with everything these days!

message 10: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments well, i feed her. she sleeps most of the day on the couch on a pillow. i sneak her real people food often, she is on the free health care program at my house, she gets her salon treatment about once a month (nails clipped and bathed), she sits in my chair with me and i rub her belly. she is not required to do anything really other than be loveable and not make a mess of anything. you tell me if she is....

wonder if our dogs are asking this question about us?

smetchie | 4034 comments Did you see the real life pictures of her dog from that blog post? She's super cute, if a bit retarded looking.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
your cat is cuuuuuute, G.

message 18: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments Thanks, Sally. He's the best looking cat I've ever owned and he's enormous.

message 19: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I loved that blog! I had a completely retarded kitten. He was the brother to his own Dad, so the genetic makeup was a bit iffy. He used to gear up to chase something, you know where cats hunker down in front & wiggle the back end up high before they take of & pounce whatever it is they're pouncing? Well, he'd do this and run Smack! into the wall. He did it a LOT... especially in the middle of the night in my room. Poor thing. But, he was very loveable. He finally got eaten by coyotes, which wasn't a huge surprise.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
lol, both of you.

message 21: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments That cat wasn't odd... he sounds insidious!

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
does insidious mean awesome?

message 23: by Heidi (last edited Jul 08, 2010 07:29AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Gretchen, I LOOOVE your cat! :D Sooo cute. I just wanna kiss him all over his face!

message 24: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments He'd let you but then he'd do it to you, Heidi. He's aggressive about his lovins.

!!!!!

message 26: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I have a sneaking suspicion that all cats have an evil genius agenda... it's just whether or not they're too lazy to get up off their fuzzy butts & do something about it.

message 27: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) This is Clarence, who is not necessarily retarded but looks a bit challenged in this picture:

message 28: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Hmmmm. I take that back, he's actually kind of good-looking.

message 29: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments He looks very wise and distinguished! I want to scratch his head.

message 30: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments he has scholarly features and would probably look good in glasses.

message 33: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I love cats.

message 34: by BK (new)

BK Blue (paradoxically) | 56 comments Photobucket

Does anyone else ever do this to their pet pictures?

Also, they need to make a test for cats. I really think there is something wrong with mine. I love him anyways!

message 35: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11856 comments My cat may not be around much longer. He's 20 years old but has always acted like a kitten. The last couple of months, though, he has slowed considerably.

His jumping is not very good anymore, and sometimes he appears to hurt as he climbs stairs.

He's been my family longer than anyone else currently in the home. It's tough watching him go downhill.

message 36: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments HOLY MOLEY!!! That's pretty cute. :)

message 37: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments What a peanut!! He didn't even beg at the door or anything??

I love that you're posting smart dog stories in the "Is your dog retarded" thread.

Phil I feel your pain. Two years ago, I lost my main man after 21 yrs. He died peacefully in my arms. I always joked that he was the one "guy" that was with me through thick and thin because I had had him most of my adult life. Pets become part of our family.

More justification for my TawNub fandom.

message 40: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I love that website - Hyperbole and a Half. You have to read the Boyfriend Does Not Have Ebola Probably one.
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com...

The pictures literally had me crying. I printed it to post in our breakroom, and now every time I see it I chuckle. "Huh. I never knew that about giraffes." vs. "My pain is not fucking around."

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hahahahaha!!! Youndyc, I'm laughing again just remembering that pain chart! :D

message 42: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments Me, too! HiLARious, truly.

message 43: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
The pain chart should have earned her a webby.

message 44: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4034 comments I agree. That pain chart is the funniest thing I've ever seen. It's so true. I have a bunch of nurse friends who went really crazy over it. I swear I won't be surprised if they actually start using it.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments DO NOT TRY TO EAT WHILE LOOKING AT PAIN CHART!!!

message 46: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) Against my better judgement I am probably gonna print out that pain chart and post it in the breakroom at work, whereupon I will get in serious trouble for having a sense of humor which is not allowed (see: zombie attack poster of 2009 which was hilarious but which made my boss cry and have flashbacks to Columbine and VaTech even though she wasn't even there and no zombies were involved) (that we know of.) So I'd like to thank Youndyc in advance for getting me on my boss's shit list, again.

message 47: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments Mary, I'm always glad to "help."

Revised #3: "This is distressing. I don't want this to be happening to me at all."
