What book are you reading now? Is there one or more? How do you like it?

message 2: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) I am actually writing quite a few book/stories. I am currently working on a fan fiction, a spinoff of a book I'm writing, and a book. But when I am stuck on those I will occasionally work on the sequel to my book (because even though I haven't finished it yet, I sort of know how it is going to end).

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, now I know I'm not alone. I do that too, or even write scenes i have no intention of putting into the story.

message 4: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) Me too. I like creating the world my characters live in, including their history. It's really fun.

message 5: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff I am currently working on two novels, one a sci-fi fantasy, and the other based on a true story, from the point of view of a rodeo horse. I really enjoy writing them. I also write poetry but I am not very good, I have treks to write song lyrics. I always have a good melody but I can't think of words. I also want to start writing fan fictio, just to put on Goodreads.

message 6: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 07, 2010 10:41AM) (new)

oh sweet. i'm writing one main book then a few on the side. I did have three chapters up but i took them down so i could rewrite them.

message 7: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I'm writing two books, but one takes up my time more than the other. The one I'm working on right now is about Medusa, and then one about mermaids, which I'm planning on continuing after the Medusa book.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooo Medusa. I did a project on her and thought she was facinating.

Thomas (Marimbapanda) Hey, I'm Thomas. I am currently writing a fantasy story and many different poems every now and then. The story is about a kid that has a connection with birds.......

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooo original. Do you have any of it posted up on this site?

Thomas (Marimbapanda) Yeah, but the copy on my profile is really bad and boring....... I don't want to post it where others can copy off of it.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Good point

message 13: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) I can't really describe my novel. My fan fiction is pretty easy: its of The Hunger Games. But my spin off is like my novel, immpossible to explain.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I feel that way with mine. It's hard to talk about without giving anything away.

Thomas (Marimbapanda) No, I understand...... You are writing a book, but making a parallel story or ending to the actual one, Right?

message 16: by Amaranta (last edited Jul 07, 2010 10:56AM) (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) Well the spin off follows a character in the novel that is only in one chapter...so far. I was thinking on day about it and just started writing it. But it only has one chapter so far.

Thomas (Marimbapanda) Okay. That sounds interesting.

message 18: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I've posted some of both my stories, if anyone would like to take a look at them.

message 19: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff I already have the prologue of my science fiction novel up, bug I don't want to put any more of that for security reasons. I will try to put my horse one up soon.

message 20: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Just put up Chapter 7 of my Medusa story. Chapter 8 is going to take FOREVER. I'm not that great at writing action scenes, and Chapter 8 is just one long battle scene!

message 21: by Evee (new)

Evee There's this story I've been working on for years and I'm nearly finished with it. I know every scene to the end. I just need to write it now. I'm excited about it. I've even stopped worrying about cutting off chapters and stuff. I just want to get it all written down.

I've published Book One of the Prophecy of the Flame series (it is .99 on kindle for a short time http://www.amazon.com/Prophecy-Flame-...) Book Two is coming out this month (already available on Kindle).

So right now I'm working on Book Three of the series.

message 23: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I just added Chapter 8 of my Medusa/Gorgon story. I have to say, it's my best chapter so far!

message 25: by Heather (new)

Heather Salsbury (twilightblonde) WOW that is amazing you guys!! I'm working on a 6 book serious right now. It's kind of hard to explain though. It's kind of a little bit of everything lol

message 26: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (KendraG) | 40 comments I'm writing a story and my friend is editing it. (mostly for grammar problems.)

message 27: by Heather (new)

Heather Salsbury (twilightblonde) I have a big problem with editing. I mean, I can write well I think. I just can't use proper grammer a lot, or i just write too fast and mess up.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

i get like that at times. Seriously, 6 books? i don't think i could manage that. my ideas would get intertwined.

message 29: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (KendraG) | 40 comments Me too!! It's just so hard to look over your own work that you're so proud of and see the grammar mistakes. you think 'How'd I miss that?' But I sort of figured out how to fix it: Get someone else to edit it.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

what happens to me is that i'll write something one night and i'll think its the best piece of writing i've done so far but then when i go back to read it, its really crappy and messed up.

message 31: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Sam I'm with you there! I've done it serveral times...but later on a few months down the line you'll come back across it and it sounds perfect and you show it to someone and they totally like it...It's an amazing feeling to have that happen to you.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah that's the best part of it. especially if you don't like but someone else does. its like, "seriously?"

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Im crying because my laptop crashed and all my writing was on it. :( So now im using paper books.

That's sad :( I've lost alot of a book I was working on, I was very upset, still don't have it to this day.

But think of it this way, it's always good to go back to the old times, just paper and ink! See it as a new experience! LoL!

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I know ahh but its so freaking stressful!

message 36: by Solaris (new)

Solaris | 3 comments I've been working on a book Im writing! Im really exicted. Its going to be called "Shattered"..I think.

message 37: by Rebecca (last edited Jul 07, 2010 08:26PM) (new)

Rebecca (rdyne1) I'm writing two seperate books at the moment, both young-adult fiction with some fantasy thrown in. They're both on goodreads and I've had great responses to them thus far but my biggest worry is that I don't get much criticism. Most of the responses are people asking me to write faster, good writing doesn't happen overnight right?

message 38: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rdyne1) Solaris wrote: "I've been working on a book Im writing! Im really exicted. Its going to be called "Shattered"..I think."

Sounds like a great read, what's it about?

message 39: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff No, that's very true. In fact, when I ask my friends to read my writing, I ask fot as much criticism as they can think up - and then I tell them
to give me a certain period of time to write more, and at the end of that time they read and critique again. It is a very long process and I would appreciate any constructive criticism that you can come up with on the part of my novel that is posted.

message 40: by No One (new)

No One (baka) I've just started working on a psychological horror novel about a boy who ends up in a orphanage after his parents death. I'm not going to spoil anything yet. The story is still in progress, thought I know the ending and some of the characters.

message 41: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff That sounds pretty cool!

message 42: by No One (new)

No One (baka) Thanks. I hope it will be great. I'm really keen about working on it.

message 43: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (KendraG) | 40 comments I've been sitting in trees and writing, then typing up what I wrote at home.

message 44: by No One (new)

No One (baka) In trees? Wow! I take my notebook and pen with me outside, but not in the trees. Isn't that a little hard?

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Lmao since all I can do is write in a note book then that seems like a challenge that I'm up for. I'll try finding a tree sturdy enough haha florida trees arent that great :P They'll break. Haha I hope my Pc Recovers.

message 46: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) I just type out my stuff on my email account, but I do write in journals too. Just not in trees, although I might try that. My grandma has a really sturdy apple tree I could use.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha your a trip. I Love Your creatiness :D
And what do you mean, You type it on your email account?

message 48: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) Like I start a new email, only I just write like a chapter in there. Then I'll transfer that to goodreads and a folder I have for stories in my email. That way I'll be able to keep the stuff.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Thats such an awesome idea I'm going to do that because its safer. See my computer crashed and now I lost all my storys. Thats a better way. Okay so what email do you have? Will it work for Yahoo?

message 50: by Amaranta (new)

Amaranta (foreverreader) That is what I use. It is really nice, because it's just like an email, only it is your story. Plus, if you aren't sure you like it, you can send it to your friends and they can let you know what they think.
