Starzee | 21 comments Twilight is a bit overrated now i think.

But theres also Vampire Academy, Evernight, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Night Huntress, Darkyn, House of Night, Vampire Diaries, Sookie Stackhouse, Morganville Vampires, Vampire Kisses, Argeneau, Anita Blake Vampire Hunter, and loads of other awesome series :D

Black Dagger Brotherhood and VA are some of my all time faves!!

I know of a great new take on vampires and Werewolves. It throws Elves into the mix:

Dreams of the Ringed Vale

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) My favorite vampire books are Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood books, Vampire Academy, and House of Night. I'm thinking about reading Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles when I finish all the Sookie Stackhouse books.

message 7: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Duff I happen to really like the twilight books and movies. That might just be because Taylor Lautner is so hot... Lol!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

lol we can tell Kayla. So Far Eternal And Tantalize are good vampire books with a twist. Tantalize
Eternal

I watched the True Blood series on HBO: actually I rented them from Netflix. If you don't like graphic nudity, or have young kids, this isn't for you... I hear it loses nothing from the books.

message 10: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Yeah, I watched the show too. I kind of thought it would have been completely better if they'd stuck to the books. The books were almost completely devoid of sex, but the show was just too much.

One of the best vampire books is Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantasky. Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

It's an extremely funny book and takes on a serious tone all at the same time! I suggest any of you who haven't read the book do so!!

message 12: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) One vampire book series I tried to get into but absolutely could not like whatsoever is Thirst by Christopher Pike. Maybe it's because I tried starting from the second volume first, but here it is on my bookshelf, just collecting dust... :)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

ahhh i hated that book Garrett! gave me the creeps :( .....

message 14: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I know what you mean! I guess I better stop judging a book by its cover, because that's the only reason I even picked the book up in the first place! :D

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I picked it because of the cover and for it being about vampires. You aren't alone. Hehe

Garrett we all make that mistake! Trust me!!

message 17: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I do that quite a lot. :) Has anyone read the Morganville Vampires books? I've got one book in the series, but I don't know if it's really my thing. Anyone know if they're any good?

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I've only read the first too but i want to read the second. i read the first chapter on Rachel Caine's website and thought it was good.

message 19: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I've read the first three but after that I lost interst...

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

that doesn't sound good...

message 21: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Hmmm... Might give them a try. :D Next books I'm planning on getting soon are Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.

message 22: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner...It was really good but short and sad...

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I talked to some people and they said it was boring. I guess i'll find out for myself.

message 24: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) The only thing that's me from ketting Bree Tanner before was i just thought it was too short. But, then agai, it is a novella, and novellas are pretty short. :)

I was actually looking through this on Amazon a few weeks ago. Sounds pretty good.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

That's my problem, i like the big fat books with lots of words :)

message 27: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I think you should definately get it! It's seriously funny and Lucus is very charming and makes the book! I think you'd like it!

I feel the same way!

lucus? wait, don't spoil it lol

don't we all??

Cool! I think I'll need to make a trip over to Amazon or Barnes and Noble soon!

I have to agree, it's like you want to get your money's worth.

message 32: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Yep! Now if only I had the receipt for that Thirst book... :D

message 33: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I heard about that book and my friend didn't like it either...

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay we aren't the only ones Garrett! XD

message 35: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Maybe booksellers should put a Caution sticker on that book's cover. No one seems to like that book, and it's sad people are getting ripped off for buying it. Lol

message 36: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Anyone read the Vampire Diaries? I thought the third book (The Fury) was really good, and really sad, but the other books in the series just didn't do it for me.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

yup, it was ok for me. Elena got on my nerves

message 38: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I've read all of them up to the last two books that just came out...not interested anymore...

message 39: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Yeah. That's how I felt. Elena on the TV show was better. And yeah, I haven't read the last two books. I have the next-to-last one (Nightfall, I think it's called?) and every time i start it I stop on, like Chapter 2. I didnt think it was possible for a book to be about NOTHING, but that one really is. But hey, if you stamp the word "Vampire" across it, people'll buy it. (I'm guilty of doing that.)

message 40: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 07, 2010 10:27PM) (new)

I think everyone is.

message 41: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
LoL! Aren't we all?!! Though I'm straying from vampire books right now and going to faires and books that take place in early history like Graceling and Fire, they have fantasy twisted in it and it's amazing.

message 42: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) My favorite mythical creature (mermaids) is finally starting to get books out about them, and I can't wait. Sadly, lots of them come out in 2011, so i have to wait till then. Luckily, I've got enough vampire and other creatures books to do until then1

True, I also I Angel books! Like Angel Star by Jennifer Murgia and Kinght Angels "book of love"...vampire books are becoming less popular lately.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh Angel books are about my most favorite out there. Have you read Fallen?

cool! I really did like the book...another book I love is Shade (Shade, #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready

It's Amazing!! Though there's no faires in it.

message 46: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
My friend wanted to read that book but has shyied away from it, you'll have to tell me what you think of it...

message 47: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) So far, of what I've read, it's pretty good. The descriptions of the mer-world are amazing. I thought the mermaid character was going to be snobby and stuck-up, but she's really clumsy and funny. Not at all what i thought she was going to be like!

message 48: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I remember you said you liked books that were back in another time, and this one is: The Forbidden Sea Forbidden Sea by Sheila A. Nielson
it never specifies the time, but I've read some of it on amazon and the descriptions are fantastic1

message 49: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Aww!! Thanks, I'm going to check it out!! Have you ever read the book Sea Change Sea Change by Aimee Friedman ?

message 50: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I bought that book from Amazon! :D I've had it for a while and I might start reading it soon. i've heard it never specifies what kind of creature he really is. have you read it?
