Eastofoz Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" is a powerful romance novel on canvas IMO :)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14530 comments good one Lani, Love it

I've always thought the painting The Accolade was romantic also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accolade

I realize it not romantic in the same way as The Kiss but still...

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Don't feel bad, Pamela. I can't remember where I pin things too. Just this morning I had to do a general search of the whole site to find my own pin. LOL!

message 16: by Rosanna (new)

Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) I always have trouble posting pics on GR but some of my fave romantic paintings are by Jean-Honore Fragonard, a painter who worked around the French Revolution period. Everyone is wearing white wigs, and they show lovers in beautiful gardens. So lovely.

God Speed by Edmund Leighton was the first that came to mind for me.

Rachel Annie (snapdragoness) Hero and Leander's story doesn't have an HEA, but I love this painting. Has a sort of haunting beauty to it.

Hero, Having Thrown herself from the Tower at the Sight of Leander Drowned, Dies on his Body by William Etty

Love the middle one a lot, Rachel. It's as if she's saying, "Don't go."

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14530 comments Nice! I have Huguenot ancestors who came to US way back in 1700s.

Heather L (wordtrix) description
"Kiss 4" by Mark Matzke

I was drawn to this image at a Ren Fest and was kicking myself later for not getting it. When we went back a few years later, I was both surprised and pleased to see the artist still had a booth there, and the image was still available. Would have loved to purchase a large copy of it, but had to settle for a cheaper and more affordable 5x8 size.

Rachel Annie (snapdragoness) Very sweet, Heather!
