Book titles can be hard work when doing local guides you have to always put the name of the location in the titles so you end up with 100s of books with similar titles example:
Cotswold Riverwalks
Cotswold Pubwalks
Cotswold Cookbook
Cotswold walkabout
cotswold ghosts
Look out for Cotswold Vampires (lol)

No but to show my LACK of smartitude (yeah, it's a word, look it up :P) the vampire trilogy I wrote had these three titles:
Vampires: Hunters and Humans
Vampires: One Fang
Vampires: Forever's End
I YET TO THIS DAY have come up with a working title that.. well.. WORKS.

I can't think of anymore at the moment but I thiought of some good ones that I actually want to use as story titles lol

I can't just come up with a name without knowing what the book is about. Just saying it is about vampires doesn't really help me.

did that too with a book. I wrote this short fantasy book, mostly just for fun though so far it's my best seller at smashwords. couldn't think of a title so I named after a character. It's called "The Noble Mr. Prickles." Actually named the thing after a chimpanzee.

I actually find it easy to write a book, but I find it so hard to think of a name to go with the book, so I was wondering ..."
Bond of the Twisted Souls
Soul Song
Cage of Midnight
There's three.

you should check it out then. Three of my books, including The Noble Mr. Prickles will be half price next month at Smashwords.com as part of their summer promotion. Lots of other authors too.

Silent Death
Wings of Darkness
Fangs of Steel
Get the Point?
Night Steelers
Once Bittnen,Twice dead

You are funny,like it.

I browse the shelves at bookstores these days--well, more than usual lately--scanning titles and covers to see what appeals, what doesn't.
Some--too many--of the titles seem the same; some of the covers have a double take image that is so twilight or shades of greyish.
Some 5 word titles are 5 words that are a complete turn off. And a recent trend is "cartoonish" images, for lack of a better way to describe them. A little clever, for the first one or two; not so much after you have seen a bunch of them. But it all comes down to this: what sells.

Of course, The Hunger Games went for simple motifs as well. It's definitely a fashion. I think it worked for The Hunger Games, but it's often just pretentious.
Covers and titles are tricky things. My first novel is:
Kings of Infinite Space
or, alternatively:
Kings of Infinite Space: The Quest for Alina Meridon
I like these titles, but I can't help wondering if the Kings of Infinite Space is actually a turn-off for people browsing. Perhaps the title should just have been:
The Quest for Alina Meridon
or even just:
Alina Meridon
Also, the original cover was done by a friend of mine, and I like it but it doesn't really sell the book, so this year I decided to switch it to something photographic. Here they are:

Do you have a title and cover yet?

I can't see them well enough to make a choice. You are a very smart man so you decied which cover you like. Since the book is about a woman, the cover shoul refect that.

You have a lot of talent, to wright & taking good pictures. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Thief Of Blood And Time
The Man Who Walked In Shadow
Centuries Mine
or, for a vampire comedy:
One Foot Out The Grave

Just keep tring, & you will get it all figured out.As for mw, I'm terrified of camras, in front & behind them.

I Ain't Broke - Don't Fix Me!"
Thank you, Francis. That was nice of you, to guote, me.

I was that way to0 but now I'm not. But I find it better when behind them at first then get in front of them gives you a better idea of angles and lighting. I think my problem is I most go photo shoots outside and i try to work with the things that are easy to find. You only have to worry about one source light angel but light pollution can completely ruin a photo. I also find using nature in a cover just makes thing look less forced.
I

For the title I want to go with simplicity itself (NOT my title by the way!); for the cover I want an element of mystery but I also want to portray an image of New Orleans, which is the center stage of the book; the city itself is a minor character. I have taken many photos that I may be able to use; nothing just seems quite right.
I think the "Quest for Alina Meridon" sounds more intriguing. My author friend showed us the cover she picked and loved for her first book; I quite liked it also. It did not sell. She changed it to a artwork image and that seems to be doing better. I don't really like it. I see a lot of titles, and covers for that matter, that seem like the same thing over and over. But then, people seem to want to be told the exact same stories, over and over, with minor changes in detail. I guess. I bet there will be only 100 people on the planet who will really get my book and love it.
