did somebody say Sarge!?!?!?!!!!
oughta curiousity new recruit. what does that ther Qt stand for?
Well, if you say Q_T fast it sounds like "cutie" :-) By the way, do you watch COMBAT! on TV as reruns, or do you have it on DVD/tape?
yeah there great! I love COMBAT!
Hey, I'm Julie. I obviously also love Comabat! I have the complete series on DVD and I watch Comabt! every day. I even dressed up as Saunders last Halloween and wear my field jacket with Sergeant stripes all the time in fall and winter. I am the one who had to hand create the "No Rest For Heroes" book by Calin on Goodreads so I could review it. I love Comabt! so much that this little picture of Kirby is what I use for all my avatars on the internet. I wish I had a sister or a friend to talk to Combat! about all the time, but I'm fine with just obsessing over it myself.
yeah its cool when you have someone to talk to. I have my sister she's pretty awesome! we hav alot of fun 2gether.
Hi Julie! That's really neat you dressed as Saunders for Halloween! And yes, it is always great if you have someone to talk to about it. Though of course, obsessing by yourself is also good :-) I'll have to go look up "No Rest for Heroes" and read your review; I'd love to read that book sometime.
oh the best obsession one can have!
My parents used to watch it when it was on TV too--then it was on reruns on the Nostalgia channel several years ago, and we taped most of the episodes, and that's when I really got into it, because it was on about every night and Mom and Dad would watch and tape it. I don't really remember if anything in particular about the show caught my attention--probably the characters--but it certainly became a favorite very quickly :-D We lost track of it on TV for a while, but we had the taped episodes, and now it's on TV again every weekday night. Wonderful :-)
It's on the "American Life" TV network. We have one of the older C-Band satellite dishes, and the channel itself is free. You can go to the channel's website, www.americanlifetv.com, and if you scroll down on the home page and click on the COMBAT! link under "Greatest Generation" it'll take you to the show's page and there's a little trailer for the series that plays :-) You can also click on "Greatest Generation" and it'll play a trailer that combines scenes from COMBAT! and also two other World War II shows, "Twelve o'clock High" and "Rat Patrol".
On my internet connection, the videos take a bit to load properly; I usually let them load, then I go to another page. I return to the trailer page, and the videos play properly for me. They're kind of fun to see :-)
I love Rat Patrol that is right up there with Combat I adore Tully/. I think I shall have to start a Rat patrol site now!!!!
Twelve o-clock High is also a big fav.
Twelve o-clock High is also a big fav.
Yep, "Twelve o'Clock High" is a TV show too--I think it was probably based on the movie. And, that's cool that you've both heard of Rat Patrol too! :-D That is a good one, also!
This isn't quite a COMBAT! question, but has anyone ever heard of/seen the show "The Gallant Men?" I've never seen it, but it used to be advertised on one channel and it looked like another WW2 show, made around the same time as COMBAT! I think. It sounded interesting, and I thought it might have some of the COMBAT! actors as guest stars or something.
Oh, by the way--just to let you know, we're having company for 3 weeks so if I'm not on here quite as often, that's why :-)
Just curious, but some of the discussion topics at Group Home seem to have disappeared--is that a glitch on my computer? Just wondering! Thanks!
OK, thanks, I tried that; they still don't seem to be coming up. It says "showing 2 of 2 topics" and there were more than that, I think.... I don't know--it's kind of odd!
ooooooo nope seen to many to be remebrin that there!
That's neat, you got to see the pilot for your first episode! Good way to do it!I don't remember my first one for sure (I was probably like 5 or 6 or so) but the first ones I remember are "S.I.W.", and the one where Hanley is in the village which is full of landmines. I think there is a French nun and a German in the episode too but I don't remember the name.
Hey combatants! I have been away for months it seems. I have a problem with my short attention span and hyper focusing. I still love Combat!Okay, the topic is what was the first episode each of us saw. I have no idea what the first one was I saw, but it must have been early in the first season because I remember Kelly was a bigger deal than Kirby. My best guess is that it was "The Celebrity".
Yes, that's a great one! Thanks for recommending it! I love all the photos. The only other one I know of is Jo Davidsmeyer's site--you probably know of it already but if not I can find the address....
