Shame on me for not following my own rules, and posting a thread where it really doesn't belong.

That is one of the perks of being the moderator :)

I promise to remove soon! I swear!

I was just contacted by someone at http://giveawayscout.com and they want me to add my blog to their search engine. Had anyone ever heard of them, or used them?

I don't know why, but I feel like I need a little reassurance before I do it.

What do you think? What do you know?

message 2: by F1Wild (new)

F1Wild It looks like an interesting site, Lori - but there doesn't seem to be any blogs there presently (or am I missing them?).

Do you think they may want to tap into your resources for finding giveaways?

I'm not sure what the motive is. But I figured in a group of 7000 people, someone here may have heard of them or used them, you know?

Carol Lori it appears to be a catch-all like bizrate.com etc. A place to look at for all give aways.

Carol I checked on the web, some say you are charged a nominal fee and others say you are not. It is like they are advertising for you on twitter, facebook etc. You already do that. It might free up some of your time.,but then again you would have no control as to who entered your contests. Any one from the web could in effect win. Do you want others outside of goodreads to win contests you are promoting through a reading site?

The contest I run are not strictly for goodreads members... since I run them on my blog as well...

Carol Well then it would probably give you some leeway and hit a wider audience.Go for it.

J. Guevara (jguevara) | 94 comments Until you know more about them and are comfortable I would let it rest. From what I can tell, you'd be giving more than getting. IMO for what it's worth

Ralph Gallagher | 64 comments I got a message from them the other day asking to add my blog. I wasn't sure who they were since they came out of nowhere.

That was my issue, Ralph. Just so random, you know?

j - that was my inital thought. That's why I threw it out to the group.

:)

F1Wild Has anyone added their blog yet? I still don't see any.

message 12: by Carol (new)

Carol Nah!
Don't have a blog , but if I did I would not add something I did not initiate myself. Too much suspect stuff out there.

message 13: by F1Wild (new)

F1Wild Maybe I should rephrase - I don't see any blogs on the site. Lori, have you spoken to anyone who will be responding to their mass request?

They contacted me as well. I've seen a few reports about them and they seem OK but I'm erring on the side of caution.
