October GOODREADS Fantasy Nominations.
I nominate Flesh and Fire by Laura Anne Gilman. (It's the first in a trilogy; the second, Weight of Stone, will be released in mid-October.)
I'd definitely be willing to lead a discussion..The Persephane Pendrake Chronicles-One-The Cimaruta
In Dreams and Magic

Okay so far I have:Shadow's Son
Flesh and Fire
We still have a few weeks to go. So lets see what people come up with :)
So we are to nominate a fantasy novel by a GoodReads author, right? Then I nominate All the Windwracked Stars, by Elizabeth Bear. (I think that works. . . at least, it says "GoodReads Author" next to her name. . .)
Yeah that's pretty much what it is :). I'm going to try and get whatever author it is to take part in either a Q&A or a discussion or something. So it'll be a lot more fun that way.
A nice lady named Jaqueline made this nomination on the sci-fi thread, so I just thought I'd add it to Cindy's search for the fantasy book, although from what I can see Moira J Moore is not a goodreads author so it is probably disqualified:I nominate Heroes Return, by Moira J. Moore, Fantasy for October - I can't find her on goodreads but I've yet to conquer this site! Maybe someone can recruit her. Her books are discussed here.

The Second Coming - David H. Burton"
I'll definitely second this - great book.
The Second Coming - David H. Burton"
I'll definitely second this - great book.
Quick question when you say Fantasy does this include all the subgenres too like paranormal, supernatural, urban fantasy, etc.?
I'm not sure how to differentiate between nominating myself and "shamelessly promoting" myself (smile), but I'll nominate the first title in my series, The King of the Trees by William D. Burt. Since it tends toward the young adult crowd, most of our group members may not have read it. Cheers!
I'd like to nominate Inda by Sherwood Smith. A very powerful political intrigue story that catches the next generation in its coils - complex, and well drawn, and moving enough to be worth the ride.
Just found Moira J. Moore on Livejournal and dropped her a note to join goodreads and get on this thread.http://moiraj.livejournal.com/92224.h...
Her books are discussed on goodreads and this HEROES RETURN is #5 in a really good series, solid worldbuilding, fascinating politics, lost-colony world like Darkover, interdependence like Sime~Gen, can't beat this!
Moira J. Moore here. Just received the hugely flattering comment from Ms. Jacqueline and have joined as a goodreads author.
P.S. This site is amazing!

Moira - Jacqueline Lichtenberg here - been reviewing your novels since the first of the HEROES series. Make sure I get future ones for review. I review for a monthly magazine published on paper, posted to their website, then my column is archived at http://www.simegen.com/reviews/reread... -- go to simegen.com top page, use google search in upper left corner to find copies of reviews with your name.

Hey if nothing else, this October Fantasy project has become a winner.
I nominate Dennis Pennefather's 'The Understanding'aka'The Jump Clones' available Amazon, Barnes & Noble'
'Mighty Ape' and most major distributors.ISBN: 978-1-60860-564-4.
Plenty of material for discussion, especially as there is some great hypothesis to bolster theories of an 'alien' race husbanding the development of mankind through the ages. Sits nicely as a precursor to Von Daniken's storylines.
Lynn wrote: "Is it to late to nominate Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy?"I'll Second Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy
Let's see to clear up a few things. 1. Fantasy includes any subgenre paranormal, urban fantasy etc. As long as it's not sci-fi in nature it's good to go.
2. Shamelessly promoting is I guess a matter of personal opinion. I just didn't want people coming in here saying "Oh my book is great do mine" and they have no intentions of discussing it or whatever. So I guess it's more a reflective nature and something that I haven't seen yet ;).
Here's the list so far (feel free to let me know if there's any questions). I haven't seen some books get a second so if it's not here there has been no seconding of a book. Shadows Son
Flesh And Fire
Second Coming
Prophecy of Flame
Keep the nominations coming!
I saw that my book, Shatter, was nominated. I would definitely second it and would love to participate in any discussions or Q & A.
Hmm. I would second Heroes Return, except I think that it's not the best place to start. If someone else nominates Resenting the Hero (#1), or even The Hero Strikes Back (#2) or Heroes Adrift (#3), I'd second that. And (this is OT) I'm kind of glad that I'm not the only one who is reminded of Darkover by the Heroes series.
I would like to nominate THE STOLEN MOON OF LONDOR into the hat of suggestions. It is the first book of three in THE WHITE SHADOW SAGA. Would be a good read, especially since the next book in the series, SHAMELESS WONDERS is being released on Oct. 22.
I should mention that it would be ideal if you have a series of books that we read the FIRST one unless it's a standalone. Shatter has been added to the list :)
And for those wondering about Stolen moon here is the hyper text link (as requested by poster). The White Shadow Saga: The Stolen Moon of Londorby A.P. Stephens
I see I did not enter mine properly..May I suggest my The Persephane Pendrake Chronicles-One-The Cimaruta
Thanx!
Lady Ellen
I would like to nominate Bastard's Grace by Wendy Palmer (me). It's available in ebook or paperback. There's a character in there every reader seems to dislike (I barely like her, and I wrote her), so it might make for a lively discussion...
Some really good picks! And no need to worry Lady Ellen that type of format makes it easier for people to look up the book but isn't necessary :)
Shomeret wrote: "I would like to nominate Zadayi Red by Native American fantasy author, Caleb Fox"I'd really like to read Zadayi Red as well, but it's troublesome that it's only available as a hardcover, or in ebook formats not available to me.
Edward, Zadayi Red is available at libraries. Worldcat lists 278 copies at libraries in the U.S., Canada, Switzerland and New Zealand. You can try requesting it through inter-library loan.
So I did some looking into the books that have been nominated by everyone here. Everything seems to be okay except one. I do have a concern about Second Coming it is only available in Kindle version which might be a problem to those that are interested in reading. I don't read books online and since there is no paperback or other it could prevent a problem.
If there is a different version that is readily accessible to readers let me know. Until then I'll have to leave it off the list.
Thanks for the nomination! As Colleen stated, The Second Coming is available at Lulu and in the next couple of weeks it's going to be made available at Amazon as well. :)
David wrote: "Thanks for the nomination! As Colleen stated, The Second Coming is available at Lulu and in the next couple of weeks it's going to be made available at Amazon as well. :)"How exciting!
I third, or fourth (??) the Second Coming nomination.
Dennis wrote: "I nominate Dennis Pennefather's 'The Understanding'aka'The Jump Clones' available Amazon, Barnes & Noble'

I'll second "The Understanding", very interesting an original story.
Hey, if someone wants to read or discuss INDA, I'm all for participating! And thank you to Janny for suggesting it.
I didn't see that. Then it's back in. I just want the majority of the books to be accessible to people. This was in no way done to hurt or harm anyone it was only done due to availability issues. Now that it has been pointed out that there is a way to gain a publication other then e then I will include it.

Let's get to discussing and I'll see if any of the authors are up to taking part!
Nominations will close on Aug 15th. To nominate a goodreads author just put the title and author. The cap for authors will be 20 and we'll vote on those then the top 5 will move on till the next round.
Please try to make sure that the book is accessible to a large majority of the group. This means if it is out of print, not available, etc it will not end up on the list as we want the largest group of people possible to enjoy the books.
Please make sure you are really nominating yourself and not just shamelessly promoting yourself :)
