Lisarenee | 7659 comments You know this one reminds me of an interview question that was once put to me. They asked, "If you were a fly on the wall what would people say about you?" I laughed and said all the right things. My brother in law was asked "If you had to choose to be a vegetable what type of vegetable would you be?" He thought of saying "Lettuce, because it's always a head." But decided to go with "Soybeans, because they're so versatile and can be made into so many different things." Maybe we should start a thread with what is the strangest/silliest interview question you've ever been asked? LOL

message 3: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Haha you should! :DD But, I never really took an interview...

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Heather,
My littlest guy is a bit on the melodramatic side. If he doesn't get his way then I'm mean. Occasionally he gets a bit carried away. Once, on the way home from preschool, he told me, "I'm hungry." I told him we'd be home in a little while and he'd have to wait until then. Mind you we only lived about a 20 minute drive from his school. This was his reply, "What! Do you want me to die? You want me to starve to death? Don't you love me anymore? I'll be dead. Is that what you want? For me to die? Then there will be no more me for to love."

The first time he did this to me I was thinking, "Where in the world did that come from?" Then I thought, "Hmmm... He's got debating skills."

The most recent incident happened on our trip to New York. We were riding the boat to the Statue of Liberty and it was a hot day. One of the hottest for New York this summer. It got into the hundreds. My hubby and I decided we'd go up top to be able to get more pictures and figured once the ship started moving there'd be a nice breeze. So my little guy decided it was way too hot on the upper level. He said we should get out of the sun and go down a level. I told him we'd be fine where we were. His response?

"If I get too hot I'll die. Is that what you want? For me to die? Because you might as well throw me overboard and let the sharks get me. Because one way or the other I'm a goner. Then there'll be no more me for you to snuggle buggle with. Is that what you want? No more me? Because that's what'll happen."

The people behind us were laughing so hard by the time his little speech was done and I so was I.

2-funny
3-caring
4-talented
5-smart

Mostly my family says, "Honestly Alice I really don't think we're related."

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Lisarenee, your little man sounds very cute. Now, my reaction to his outbursts might have gone this way, "Life's rough, get over it," "OK, so when you die, I get dibs on your stuff", stuff like that..

I would have so much fun with him! I use to work at a pre-school and I would give the kids a hard time when they would start up. Steven use to take toys from one part of the room, to the other, which you weren't suppose to do. When I would spot him doing that I would ask to see the hand he held the toy. He would then switch to the other hand behind his back. When I would ask again for the other hand, he would do the same. Then, I would ask for a hug and he would stomp away and put back the toy.

message 13: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Heather, I love it. I'll have to try some of those and see what he does. I haven't gotten past my little guys fanatics. I just silently laugh at him. Some of the things he comes up with are hysterical. I once asked him to share some cookies with me and he said no. So I started saying the kind of things to him that he would say to me. He looked kind of startled and then started laughing. He said, "Mom your doing what I do to you. Stop that." Too funny.

message 14: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments OMG, he actually got it? OMG, that is just too classic! You really got a special guy there. Hmm, I'll have to think up a few one liners as it seems he is pretty damn quick..

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Haha that's ok :)

message 20: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments It sounds like we are all stubborn, to a fault. I'm a Taurus which makes me very stubborn. Granted, I can be flexible which really surprises people. Then my stubborn side shows her ugly side..

message 21: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm a Taurus too. And when I go into a rage everyone around me just take a step back.

message 22: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Holler, Tauruses (sp) in the house! Sashana, when is your birthday? I feel the same way when I am in a rage. Today was a very bad day, I got betrayed at work by a co-worker and his supe that backed him up. At least my supe backed me up..

message 23: by Lisarenee (last edited Aug 05, 2010 02:38AM) (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments You know for all my games that deal with signs I have no idea what personality I'm supposed to have according to my sign.I'm a Leo and have always liked that symbol. If you use the Chinese calendar, however, I believe I was born in the year of the monkey. The two images seems so different. Strong , yet mischievous? I need to look them up.

message 24: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Heather so sorry to hear about what happened to you at work. I'm sure it was very upsetting and still is bothering you.

message 25: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Lisarenee, I have my western (Taurus) and eastern (rooster) signs tattooed on my left upper forearm. I tell people I am cocky and bull-headed which is so very true. As for the rooser I am suppose to be the dawning one; I crow whether you want to hear it or not, true huh?

As for work, work is work and it was tough but I got through it. The first thing, OK, second thing I did when I got home was turn on my laptop and pour myself a drink. Oh come on, I needed it to take the edge off and to just unwind. I will be going to bed soon but I must go deal with the laundry. I love having it out of the way..

Hmm, a Leo and a monkey. Monkey is suppose to be good in the eastern culture and hey a Leo is king of the jungle right?

message 26: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments For some reason the image of Leo always brings to mind that statement (and I have no idea who said it) I am woman hear me roar.

message 27: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Oh that is a good one Lisarenee!!! Yeah, I can just picture that too; you roaring at the top of your lungs! Bet that would scare the everlasting crap out of a man.

message 28: by Sashana (new)

Sashana @ Heather, I'm April 25. You?

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments May 18 - close to Gemini which is actually my moon sign and my rising sign is a Pisces..

message 30: by Sashana (new)

Sashana 1. Outspoken- To the point that one of my teacher told me that, "Children should be seen and not heard."
2. Open-minded (does this count as two words or one?)
3. Stubborn (I think it's a girl thing)
4. Empathetic- If you tell me a sad story I WILL cry
5. Aggressive

message 31: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Aww your teacher doesn't sound very nice :( I had a super
Sweet teacher this year & she was amazing and inspiring. I will never forget her - she may be the biggest influence in my life so far.

message 32: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lauren, I can put money (that I dnt have btw) that my schools have the worst teacher in America!

This wear one of my teachers went to jail for assulting his wife and everyone found out because his mug shot was on the news.

The teacher I told you about was from my freshman year and he always used to curse at me so I transferred from his class. Then he told this boy in my class "Why dnt you bring a gun to school and shoot me so I dnt have to see ur *bleeping* face anymore. Your mother should've had an abortion." True story and I'm not exaggerating either!

Then this Math teacher who I never had got fired because he threw a chair at a student.

In sophmore year my Biology teacher had a heart attack and never came back to our school.

*Whew!* I can go on and on and on about some of the messed up teachers at my school but I don't want to get depressed.

message 33: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lauren, speaking of inspiring people this summer I went to this program called College Summit (you should check it out by the way) and I met some people who I hope to know forever. The program is held at a college campus and you stay in the dorm for four days (free of charge!). They taught us so many things and I met so many different people that by the end of the program EVERYONE was crying because we didnt want to leave.

message 34: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments That teacher of your sounds awful! My teacher & I would have lunch together if something was wrong and I was sad, we'd email, text, and just talk all the time. She helped me through a... rough time of me life. She's inspired me to help others & wow I just can't describe the relationship that we had... She just helped me so much.

What ages are allowed for the college program & where is it?

..i'm a Capricorn but i gave birth a Taurus boy..close enough!
BETRAYAL is a seriously nasty-assed thing..sorry

message 36: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I wish I had a teacher like that and you have to be a junior.

message 37: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Wait sorry? What grade is that?

message 38: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hey Alice, yeah, that is close enough. When was your son born? Work was crap again but at least it is my weekend and I have time on my hands to watch movies and relax..

Sashana/Lauren, I've had great and horrible teachers. I know they go through a lot as my Mom was a special ed teacher and she brought home a lot of stuff. She also got paid piss poor but managed to take care of me all by herself.

message 39: by Sashana (new)

Sashana @ Lauren,11th grade. And Heather I've thought about becoming a teacher but I really don't know if it's worth it. Teachers should get paid more.

message 40: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Oh sorry, I am going to 8th grade :)

What is the average salary of a teacher? Correct me if I'm wrong but, most teachers seem pretty well off.

This teacher that I had is someone that I'll never forget. I am going to try to go back and visit her when I can, because I think about her a lot. When I'm feeling down, for different reasons, I think of the things she's told me and then I feel a lot better.

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Ro, welcome to the insanity..

Lauren/Sashana, at least in CA, teachers aren't that well paid. Garage collectors get more. Granted, my Mom is now retired and has an excellent pension since she was a state worker.

message 45: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Heather, I'm guessing that's garbage collectors, but garage collectors just put a huge smile on my face so I'm glad for the typo.

message 46: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments LOL! OMG, yeah that's what I meant! Hee-hee, I made myself crack up. Good to know the old girl still has it!

I one time typed to my Mom I had a urinal track infection and my Mom pointed out that I couldn't but that I probably had a urinary infection. Yes, you can LOL now..
