In an attempt to create a list with no repeats, each person adds only ONE. IF your first choice is already listed, post your second choice and so on.

Sometimes your favorite changes as you read new series, so we may have a BEST OF for each year. But, for now, think carefully and post the one that's your favorite right now. :)

Additionally, I have created a Pinterest board hosting the covers of the first book in each of the series found on our BEST OF: UF list.

Urban Fantasy stories involve mystery and action. The characters are mostly concerned with achieving a goal (saving the world, themselves, people they love). There are often romantic subplots, but they aren’t the main focus of the book.

In UF, you have the same main character(s) across all books in the series, they are usually narrated in first person and set in a city or urban setting.

So that gives me 2 new series to check out, Lili St. Crow's Strange Angels & Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin.

I have no interest in starting the Anita Blakes--just heard way too many bad things. :) And I know, some people say the first 5 are awesome, some say the first 8 or 9, but I just have no urge to start a series that I know I won't finish. :(

I've sampled or read most of those so I'm only interested in Frost's series and the Downside Ghosts.

I'm doing well so far. Only two series I haven't sampled at all -Strange Angels and Downside Ghosts.

Strange Angels and Downside Ghosts are definitely now on my TBR pile. I also hear great things about Adrian Phoenix, so I'll add that series as well.

I've tried/completed all of the others and this is a terrific list, all of my favorites are here, (except for one!). I'll keep my eye out for it!

Charlotte thanks for adding Dresden Files -- I can't believe it took so long to get up there!

I'm just now getting into the Dresden Files craze. I've read books 1 & 2 & am *impatiently* waiting for Grave Peril & Summer Knight to come on hold at the library.

And if you liked books 1 and 2 -- then you will love the rest of the series. The first 1-3 (maybe 4) are a little bit slower and less addicting than the rest of the series, but still very good. I love Harry. :)

My friends do too. They peer-pressured me into trying this series even though I usually stay away from books with male protagonist. Storm Front was mediocre IMO but I LOVED Fool Moon. Gore, evisceration & werewolves; everything I love in a horror story.
