margaine wrote: "cool Marieke. thanks! it's a very nicely done blog."yeah; and unlike myself, it looks like they update theirs regularly! and they link to some others that look pretty great. i've only checked this one so far, but it's already got me wanting to learn a ton more about chinese-african history and relations.
i changed the name of this topic so we can post links to blogs that readers learn about general resources. i think this blog from the economist began in July but I only just found out about it today.
while collecting news stories for our News in Egypt thread, i found this blog with some amazing pictures of Egypt, as well as lots of interesting information about how wonderfully diverse Egypt is.

The pictures and discussion of hijab and other coverings was another look at the issue we've been discussing on another thread.
For those who are interested in blogs from African countries, do check out Afrigator, which is an aggregator, http://afrigator.com/ You can search by country...
thanks for that Nina! i actually have used it in the past but it has been awhile...it's a fun thing to browse.
i don't think this is really a blog, but it looks pretty cool. a community of photojournalists posting their work about africa. i think right now two are American and two are South African. but it looks like people are allowed to join, so maybe some of you have work you want to share?? also, if you poke around on the site, they have a section for videos. there is only one so far, but it's Chris Abani giving a TEDtalk and if you have never seen Chris Abani speak, you should watch this. he is a lot of fun!
I didn't have time to look at everything, but the photos I looked at were really interesting and unusual. Neat site.
I just came across this blog: http://freduagyeman.blogspot.com/ - looks pretty cool. Found it through another blog's link to its article about a sci-fi book written in Shona. too bad I don't know Shona . . .
ah! sci-fi!reminds me i've been meaning to share AfroCyberPunk. I'm pretty excited about this guy's book coming out.
ooh, thanks Marieke! I'm hoping that at some point I'll get inspired to do some academic research on African sci-fi, because it really needs to happen. :)
Thanks to Mahriana and Marieke for sharing the two links above. Actually I know both of the people blogging as they are both Ghanaian. Jonathan Dotse, who blogs at AfroCyberPunk http://www.afrocyberpunk.com/ is actually a student at Ashesi University College http://www.ashesi.edu.gh where I work.
oooo tell Jonathan he has a fan base developing in the States! i'm really impressed with his blogs and his interviews. and i'm excited about M.K. Asante's stuff, too...and to poke around that blog more! so much good stuff!
Nina wrote: "Thanks to Mahriana and Marieke for sharing the two links above. Actually I know both of the people blogging as they are both Ghanaian. Jonathan Dotse, who blogs at AfroCyberPunk http://www.afrocy..."Just read about Ashesi University in The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good. I didn't realize you worked there, Nina.
Another book blog which might interest some of us is http://bookshybooks.blogspot.com/ . Sometimes there are lists of books, sometimes reviews, but all worthwhile, in my view
I have an online fiction blog where I write stories set in Lagos, Nigeria. It's at www.lagosromanceseries.com

I am more than happy to participate in the group discussions... I hope to read a lot more.
You have a lot of books on your shelves that are new to me, but of the ones i know and have read, we seem to have very similar taste, so i'm looking forward to following your reviews. :)
I have just start blogging...my primary focus is Africa rather than literature per se. So I will be blogging about politics, economy, development, fashion with an african focus or by an african author at least. I have already read a lot of these books, now I just have to blog about them (easier said than done). I am getting there...I will appreciate it, if you could give me your honest opininion, here is the link: booksundertheneemtree.com
Thanks-)

This is one of the more general blogs on Africa. It is quite trendy as well: http://answersafrica.com/ or if you are interested more in blogs that cover Southern Africa, you may want to check http://buzzsouthafrica.com/. I believe these are useful.
Thanks for all this info on blogs related to Africa. I am sure many of the followers of these blogs will be interested in my new book, "Africa's Embrace."

Hey, Chris, I've been enjoying your blog about Kenya. If you're interested, you could check out my blog on our website http://www.simboleiacademy.org/blog/. My apologies if I've posted this before. It's specifically about our school project in Kenya, but lots of pictures also.
Yomi wrote: "I just found this group and I think alot of these blogs are awesome. I actually write for a very cool blog about Africa that I didn't see listed:http://africandynamo.blogspot.com/"So many topics on this blog! The info on computers and technology was especially interesting.
Some nice listings here! I particularly enjoyed Spectra Speaks and Taste of Tanzania. @Gloria, I'll be sure to try your chapati recipe, and (maybe) mandazi, if I feel brave enough :) Check out my blog on my life in Kenya, mixed up with some book, movie and music reviews, all revolving around Africa (which I am clearly obsessed with ;))
