I don't get Nov 11 off, but could probably do an early evening get-together. Other than that, any of those days is fine for me.(I was seriously bummed not to be able to go last night, but I got a spider bite or something on Friday afternoon, and my ankle was swollen up double-sized on Saturday. Could barely put weight on it. Much better today, thankfully.)
Thanks, Elaine. That was a seriously evil spider- sucker took you down! Glad you're feeling better.
Kelsey, Oct dates are okay with me and Nov 11-12. I'm having my foot 'worked on' on Nov 5th which is a Friday. Again, if I miss one, i might be heartbroken but understand.
Unless everybody else says they can only make it on November 5th, I think we can make that work Kate!
I can do:
Friday, Oct 29
Saturday, Nov 6
Friday, Nov 12
As for where... I liked Skep 'n Skein. Also, we haven't been to the Spar in a while (since I joined), so we could do that again. I feel like there are other places we wanted to try...

I liked Skep n Skein too, but I don't know if we should go to the same place twice in a row? Maybe it doesn't matter? I'll bet we could reserve a big table at the Spar- it's not super cheap, but they do have snacks for people that don't want a full meal. We haven't been to Swing in a while, either. I heard one of the Anthony's has a really killer happy hour if we wanted to meet a little earlier than usual, but I forget which one it is.
Okay, it looks like happy hour is 4-6:30 at both Anthony's. The Spar is 3-6pm daily. We had pretty good service the last time we arrived en masse at the Spar...
Also, was someone noticing the Iron Rabbit when we were at Skep 'n Skein? They have good (though not particularly cheap) food and usually aren't that busy. Definitely worth a feel-them-out phone call, but I would enjoy it. ;) But I'm totally open to anywhere else. :)
I'm having trouble wrapping my heads around dates for November- everybody seems to have stuff going on for different days. The film festival is November 12-20, I've got this whole "knitting a bookcart" thing going on, there's Thanksgiving, etc. etc. How would people feel about Friday November 19th, even though the Film Festival isn't over? Crossposting this to facebook...
Okay, the 19th it is! Patty May offered up her house, but the house she's remodeling on Black Lake isn't ready for company yet. I forgot to ask her where her current house is. Do you all want a house visit, or do you prefer someplace downtown?
Soooo... ummm, the 19th, but where? or is 10 days before too soon to start the conversation?
No, it's not too soon, I'm just being flaky because I can't decide where to have it. Maybe I'll just ask if the Spar can accommodate us again- it's been a while since we went there.
I wasn't there for the Spar last time but like the idea.
Okay, the Spar it is. We've got the back room reserved. I'll put an event up... Patty, if you see this before I talk to you, thanks so much for offering your house!
I just realized that I never posted the books from the November meeting on our bookshelf! Bad facilitator. They are there now. November meeting was a little strange for me because I was getting sick (as was Meghan, I later discovered), and the back room of the Spar was COLD! It was a smallish group this time around. Rachel joined us for the first time, and David joined us for his second Oly Reads meeting. Also attending: Meghan, Kate, Jackie, Marcy, Raina, Ruby, and me. My food was meh. Ruby got a burnt pizza and there was some discussion about whether it should be returned or not (answer: yes). Meghan and Marcy won best food of the evening with some sort of beans and rice bowl? Of all the books recommended that evening, I most want to read The Feminine Mystique, Lynd Ward: Six Novels in Woodcuts, The Bear Went Over the Mountain, and Guardian of the Dead. How about you all?
I thought it was a nice size group, the place was quiet enough, even though the food did not excite, the beer was good. Next time I swear i'll bring my netbook so we can add the books in real time, then Kelsey won't be beating herself up over taking her time.
By the way, next time? Will there be a next time? If so, when are we thinking?

That's awfully nice of you, Kate! It's not really a big deal when I actually remember to do it. Yes, next time, but you figured that out already. So far, 5 of the 6 people that took the poll are free on Friday the 14th.
