I wrote Blue Ribbon from November 1 to November 30 in 2009 during National Novel Writing Month. I started thinking about what I would write about a few weeks before that, but I wrote the book beginning to end in 30 days. Of course, I took the next seven months or so to edit and revise it, but the bulk of the book stayed the same.
