I'm a huge fan of the Heir Chronicles and I was ecstatic when I heard that there would be more books in the series. I can't help but wonder though: How connected will the next two books be with the present three? Will they continue on the overall plot at all? How much of the characters from the first three books are we going to see?
Hi, Jed. My plan is similar to what I've done before--introduce new viewpoint characters while including the characters from previous books in the action. It is planned to be a sequel to the first three books. Tentative titles: The Enchanter Heir, The Sorcerer Heir.
I absolutely LOVE your books! I was ecstatic and somewhat unhappy (because the series was over) when i finished Dragon's Heir and i was overjoyed when i heard there were going to be two more books. My biggest concern is: Is Jason really dead? Because i really liked him and was very heartbroken when he died.
YAY I'm so happy to hear that there's going to be two more Heir books! Do you mind if I make Goodreads pages for them? And also, do you have a tentative release date (like what year) for Enchanter Heir yet?
Hmmm. As long as you won't hold me to it, GWT should be fall of 2012, so Enchanter Heir would be...2013?
With due respectthe heir series was decent
but only a one time read
the demon king impressed me a lot
a big jump
I;ve read it countless times
an am currently reading it again after readng the exiled queen'
just met Adam Gyphon in chapter 4 A dance of suitors
every time I read it it's so perfectly coreographed
Hey Amy - I loved Jason too! He was so amazing. I couldn't believe that he died, especially after he was so nice to Madison. Ms. Chima - I am soooooo happy that you are writing an Enchanter Heir book! Linda is by far one of my favorite characters and through her I have come to appreciate the Enchanter Guild! Oh and I love Leander Hastings (just thought I'd add that since I think of him every time I think of Linda!)
I have a story coming out in an anthhology in November called The Way of the Wizard, edited by John Joseph Adams. It is the story of how Linda and Leander met.
Oh SO COOL!! Linda and Leander's story was one of the main reasons I loved the series! It was so full of drama and intrigue - so mysterious. . .I've GOT to get my hands on that short story!
I really liked the Heir books! Having said that, I like Demon King even better.Yet, I recently made a list of books that have perfect endings, and I found less than a dozen. Warrior Heir was one of them. I thought I'd let you know!
Will the Enchanter Heir feature linda as the main character or will there be a new character? If so will this character be hero or villain.
Re Enchanter Heir, yes, it will be a while. I have the fourth book in the Seven Realms series to finish, and what with the books coming out a year apart, well...I'm writing as fast as I can.
Well okay as long as i get to read another book! I'm reading Exiled Queen right now and i absolutely am in love with it!!!! :D

Hi! I absolutely loved the Heir books!! I have a question though; Was killing Jason in the last book a hard choice for you? Do you become attached to your characters and find it difficult to kill them or give them misfortunes?
SHHH! Spoiler!! Yes, it was a very difficult choice. I actually blogged about it here

Will the main character of the Enchanter Heir have a name that starts with the letter "J"? So far we have Jack, Joseph, and Jason. ^_^

SPOILER*SPOILER*SPOILER
Are you still reading oh sad, unfortunate person who hasn't yet finished The Dragon Heir? Stop now.
I'm serious this is a big spoiler!
STOP READING!!!!
Ok . . . if you are still reading you asked for it.
Thank you for that Ms. Chima. I was always very upset about Jason's death, but I do understand that it added to the plot. If everyone had lived the ending would have been too perfect - in short I wouldn't have believed it. It wouldn't have been (for lack of a better word) realistic. I cried for Jason . . . but his death was a necessary thing for you to write. Thank you for being brave enough to kill off a main character.
hi Cinda i wanted to know something, most books dont mention what happens to the characters after the book or series ends, so will you write how their experiences in the books effect their lives afterwards
btw your series is tied as being one of my favorite books the other im still mad at because of the ending and i finished it 2-4 years ago
Oh - I watched the TV show "The Seeker" based on the Sword of Truth series! Loved the TV show...never read the books. :)
Arya you should read them but to let u know the show left out a lot of details and made even more up their good but the end of the twelfth book us dissatisfying
Thanks for the recommendation! :) I will probably read them eventually. I already fell in love with the characters from the TV show, so my reading of the books is inevitable. . .though I will probably be as upset as you were with the ending. . ,I hate books that end badly!
Is the Enchanter heir going to be about Linda Downey when she was a Silver Dragon agent who worked with Hastings against the Roses? Will the Sorcerer heir tell about Mercedes Foster or perhaps Genevieve, Seph's foster mother?
Keeth, in a word, nope!
The stories will focus on teens who are sorcerers/enchanters.
But will involve the characters you know.
Still very early in the process.

Keeth, I thought I was supposed to be getting notices on posts, but I seem to have missed a lot! Great discussion.
yeah,Jason was awesome. but the first time through, i hadnt even REALIZED Jason had died. Then later i went back and was like WHAT!?!?
because, well, the end was a little bit foggy, i got to admit.
Yeah. I think that was the point, though. In war, things seem to happen so fast. Like, in moments of excitement, when somebody says something, sometimes you don't even notice.
I like jason but I hated how he rushed into things even with his low ability to do magic he could have just blasted deveraux with a fireball and then he wouldnt have died so gruesomely.
Also since everyone that caused misfortune for the other classes is dead or have lost their power will this book go into the distant future when jack and everybody are adults with their own kids and they will be the ones facing the new problems or no
