I finished and really liked it. It shows great promise for a 1st book. We get just enough back ground to know what is going on, but still enough held back to make you want to read the next one.I found I sort of hated the sister, Tamra, I got why she was the way she was, but still. I really hated the mother for what she wanted Jacinda to do, and was glad that she fought her so much about it. I also was mad at the Mom for talking about the Dad at the end like she did. I did wonder about Will, but as things went on I knew what he was going to reveal. With the ending the way it was, it really sets a lot of things up for the next one.
I recently finished. It was ok but it reminded me to much of Twilight. Just another version, with dragons instead of vampires.
Mine doesn't even have it. I'll have to download it, but I'm trying to get through all the others on my list first.
Do you ever find that your library might not carry one of the books in a series? Happened to me a few times... strange.I don't think I would enjoy e-books.
It normally means one was damaged or never returned. Or, they just stop carrying it. Mine seems to have forgotten about the Argeneau series after book 12.
I usually ask my library to request books from other libraries for me if they don't have it. I get them fairly quickly.
The last time they requested it took around 2 months. I can do without. I have a lot of books on my list to read.
I know it's young adult novel but... it's a little juvenile. I can see the Romeo and Juliet set up already. She's a draki, he's a human hunter... the attraction is instant...
I finished. I liked it but I wasn't wowed. Some of the juvenile stuff was a little predictable. I could see it coming. Also, it was all set up for the rest of the series. Nothing about the story was resolved.
Normally I can't stand comparisons to Twilight, but there were actually a few glaring ones. The "you are my drug" lines, as well as the fact that the dragon hunter boyfriend would leave school on "family fishing trips" but instead was off hunting with the family was very similar to Twilight.
The book itself was cute and fluffy. The dragon thing was cool, but there wasn't much action. I liked this read, but it wasn't amazing.
I do enjoy love stories though (and feel like people often dump on them too much), and this one wasn't very deep but it was still decent, so I'll probably continue with the series.
The love story really is cute. Personally it was better then some of those tragic hate ones they have out there. My only compliant is that the writing was to simple and the ending! It just can't end like that!! I want more.
Stacia I love cutesy love stories and I am not ashamed to say it! I like all kinds of stuff, but I have to say cute YA romances are my guilty pleasure reads, except I don't feel guilty. :)I still haven't read this one. There are so many books coming out this time of year.
Finished it! I put it off for so long, because the premise sounded so silly to me, but I was bored and read it and I ended up really liking it!
I really liked Jacinda and I loved the chemistry between her and Will. Only thing I found annoying was in the middle when she went back and forth about getting with Will or not. She was changing her mind every 5 seconds.

I finished and really liked it. It was a light, cute love story that, while predictable, still held my interest the whole way through. I agree with the previous comments about the mom taking away Jacinda's choices and Tamra acting like a brat. I enjoyed the unique aspect of the dragons and that it was the female with the supernatural powers instead of a human girl going after a supernatural guy. I will definately continue the series.
P.S. I'm a little bit in love with Will...

Hmm-mm, me too!
Jacinda's mom and sister really ticked me off.
I started it last night and would have finished it, but I just couldn't stay awake. I really like it so far. I love Will too. I kind of picture him like Chace Crawford (Nate from Gossip Girl). I love his eyes and I love Will's so I just kind of smooshed them together, lol.
So I finished. I loved it. Holy frakking ending though, grrrrrrrrrrr. ***SPOILERS***
I feel so bad for Jacinda. I realize her mom is doing what she thinks is best for her, but is having a part of her daughter die in any way a good thing?
I had already figured Will out way before. I had thought maybe he actually had her fathers blood. That would be ironic wouldn't it?
I could have screamed near the end. Tamra drives me nuts. It's not really her fault though. If Jacinda had told her what Will and his family were she never would have went with Xander. I don't understand why Will and Jacinda couldn't have just taken off together. Set her mom and sister up in a new town and left on their own.
***END SPOILERS***
Does anybody know how many books there will be? I am really excited to read more, but really disappointed I have to wait.
The ending was really cruel to readers. The next book, Vanished, is to be released 2011. No definite date yet. Her site doesn't say how many there will be.
I wasn't aware she wrote Historical Romance.
Yeah, I found her site too. I want to know how many books will be in the series. Oh well, I guess I have to wait.
I actually liked that Will was a hunter, and that he pretty much fessed up to it (even though he had some guilt about it). Please tell me he won't eventually become a dragon...
***SPOILER***I don't think he will become a dragon or draki, but I do think he will live longer like the draki. It will eliminate the problem of him ageing fast and dying while she lives on and stays middle aged looking.
Carrie, I hadn't thought of that yet. But I love the idea!! Make things much more easier on the love birds.
I really liked it, but it is really fluffy. I think it was worth the purchase. I can see great things for the series and I would like to have all of them for my nook. I am not sure if I would be reading it over and over though.
I liked it, but I don't think it's worth a purchase (Unless you have some money to burn or can find it really cheap). Like Carrie said, it's not a book that I would read over and over again
I don't think it's worth a purchase. Like it's been said before, not something to be read over and over.
I just finished this book.... its cute and I really liked it until like the last 15 pages. I understand that this will be a series but I wanted a little more happy resolution rather than just more questions...

I actually liked the ending. Will and Jacinda got together so quickly and with little conflict (even though Jacinda went through several "no I shouldn't" phases). I can't wait to see how their struggles bring them closer.

Yeah cliffhangers suck. I heard it ended with a cliffhanger, so I wasn't surprised by it. I guess that was my advantage.
I finally got the book in and I'm getting to read it. It seems to be a very fast read. I'm 160 pages in and I've read for about 30-40 minutes. There aren't a lot of words on the pages. However, I'm curious about how things will work out. I can see how some of you have comparied it to Twilight, but I don't think that's what the author was going for. At least, not so far. Who knows what I'll think when it's over.
I think there chemistry is awesome. Excited to read the 2nd book. I don't think this is a book that takes much thought just kind of an entertaining YA fluff. :) Sometimes you need that!
I just read it over the weekend myself. I liked the story, yes it was similar to twilight in that it was a girl coming to a new school and her and this guy have a forbidden connection. But what i liked about firelight was that Jac had powers and strength and could hurt Will as much as he could hurt her. I really liked Firelight. Its a romeo and Juliet story which comes up a lot in general. Jac had some real emotions pulling her in different directions- and i really hope Sophie Jordan comes out with the next on soon.
I agree with you Jess. I said in my review that it lacked depth, but that's kind of what I needed today. Something to breeze through and not have to think about too much. I didn't mind the end like some of you, but I think there needed to be more of something...drama maybe. I didn't feel any danger for her.
