Uglies by Scott Westerfeld discussion

Okay, so in Uglies and Pretties, when they were running from the Specials, the Specials almost always won and got them.

But then, in Specials, when Tally is one of them, the New Smoke always come off better! Why is that? Did anyone else feel like it was a rip off?

well, mayb. But I think it had to happen for the story to move on.

It's weird, I think that Tally's Special lesions affected my brain too.

yeah definitely i think that the reader will usually follow and side with the main character, whoever that may be. so when tally was an ugly, we saw it from her point of view and when she was special we sided with her from her take on things.

Well, the New Smoke was definitely more organized by Specials
