This was my first steampunk book, and I liked the style. What did you think of the book? What did you think of the whole Darwinist thing?

Tina B (readinghonor) | 32 comments In the beginning, I thought this Leviathan was okay, the Darwinist vs Mechanical was an interesting twist;steampunk usually incorporates the two. This book really became interesting to me when with the introduction of Deryn Sharp. Suddenly, there's an whole new dynamic to explore of where females fit in this steampunk world. I think that this will continue to be a major theme in the sequels.

I've really not read much steampunk. I read the new Cassandra Clare book, Clockwork Angel, and it had lots of strong female characters. Is that not really true of the rest of the genre?

Katie | 17 comments I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. The world of steampunk was completely new to me, and the author just throwing me into it with strange characters, places I'd never heard of, talking animals, and different vocabulary was a very different change. Lots of details were put into some things, while others wdin't get enough. The ending was in a strange place, and I don't expect to read the next one. I must say though, that the afterword was really great. (Except for the fact he seemed to really be gloating about himself.)
