Hi, I am Tiffanie.. I got an email about this group today.. I am not on here much.. since i got my nook.. but would like to stay up with it.. Thanks for the invite.. I hope to hear more about the Catholic books that you are reading..
Hi,I'm Lisa. I've been excited to join the group, I'm always interested in book recommendations from others. I so glad you started this group.
Welcome Kyle! Good to have a seminarian here. God bless your studies and formation for the Holy Priesthood :)
Hello Marie, welcome to the group! I'm glad that others also think having an active Catholic group on Goodreads is a splendid thing :) Looking forward to getting to know you through your books and reflections. God bless!
Welcome Steven! When did you become Catholic? Super to see you here, and I hope you'll share your books with us :)
Hi folks! I'm Carlos. I'm fairly new to Goodreads and am happy to have found this group. I'm always looking for good Catholic books to further my spiritual life.
Hi! I'm Carmen, I'm 19 and actually in the process of converting...I'll be confirmed at Easter and I can't wait :)
Welcome to our group, Carmen! I can imagine your excitement for Easter this year :D I was baptised as a baby so I haven't experienced that myself, but I know several people who became Catholic later in life, so I've seen how much they look forward to it.
Have you been asked to read any good books as part of your RCIA preparation?

Not specifically, but the preist whor runs it knows I love to read, so he's been recomending books for me...like the one I'm reading now by Matthew Kelly. Thanks why I joined this group, to find out about some good Catholic books :)
Hello all, Im Renee.I'm a convert too. I converted many years ago when I was in highschool. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Thomas Aquinas College in CA. It was a wonderful experience that deepened my faith thru education. I currenly live just north of Seattle WA. Im excited to have a group to discuss reading with.
Welcome, Renee! I've heard lots about Thomas Aquinas College. It must have been awesome to study in a Catholic environment :)
hello all. My name is rebecca. Cradle Catholic and mother of eight, grandmother of 9. I probably won't contribute a whole lot to the discussions but I love to hear wht others are reading and what they think.
Hi all, I'm Carina. Also a Catholic convert since Easter 2007. I enjoy reading about the faith and learning as much as I can to live the faith. Happy to meet you all! :)
Hello Everyone! I'm Brent, a somewhat (ok... very) nerdy convert and a blissfully happy husband and father of three. Thanks for starting this group!
Good to have you here, Bert. There seem to be lots of converts here - perhaps some of us "Cradles" need to be a bit more active ;) Welcome!
Hi, I'm Annie. I'm a cradle, but more recently I've been interested in adding Catholic books into my reading. I'm really glad I found this group.
Hello, I'm Joshua, Catholic and totally in love with books. I got here from a recent commentator in a blog that said you all were voting for a Lenten book to read. Thanks for creating this group, I hope to learn from you all and to delve deeper into our faith. God Bless :-)
Hi, I am Mary and I am new to this group too. I am excited to participate in the Lenten read and deepen my faith. This is not something pretty new to me. I am computer literate but don't spend much time on it socially, So looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you. Blessings....
A big big welcome to Annie, Joshua and Mary (great name!). Wonderful to see people joining up, especially with the Lenten read-a-thon coming up SOON ;)
I hope you all feel at home here. Do feel free to join in any of the discussions, or start your own!

Hi all, I'm Audrey from Sarawak (Borneo), Malaysia. I'm actively involved in the parish youth group and in the archdiocesan media team. I've always loved reading, especially on apologetics. I feel a need to learn as much as I can about what I believe in as a Catholic. Glad to have found this group! :)
Hello everyone, I'm Marc. I work in a Catholic parish as a DRE and I love to read spiritual books. Looking forward to the discussions in the group!
A big welcome to Audrey and Marc. God bless your work in helping the formation of young people - such an important task! It's good to have you both here :)
Hi, everyone! My name is Ammie, and I'm a lifelong Roman Catholic, though I am trying to be a much better one than I have been in the past. I'm looking forward to doing the Lenten read-a-thon, getting to know you all, and reading about my own religion for a change!
Hey Ammie, great to have you on board! I'm so looking forward to the Read-A-Thon, it's a relief to have actually started!
The more I read about our beautiful Faith the more I realise I don't actually know anything... :P

Since you wrote of "mystical-type experiences" and connected "controversial ideas" with those experiences, I am concerned. Mystical experiences are part of the journey in Christ, but they are also dangerous for the soul because they present opportunities for temptation and for error. I hope you will find some good and solid counsel to keep you on the path of Christ's truth!
My own book, The Ordinary Path to Holiness presents the Christian journey as experienced and understood in Catholic faith - it might be of help. I hope so. May the Lord guide and bless you!
Hi Patti, and welcome to the group! We're glad to have you amongst us. God bless you for being such a great example to your children that your little boy succesfully kept his fast all the way through Lent - such a great reflection on your love for him :)
None of us here can really 'help' you with how your experiences are received. Perhaps they are given to you to strengthen you in your faith, in which case we can all rejoice that you've been blessed with them. But the Enemy can also use such things to deceive us and lead us astray. It's really only the eternal teaching of the Church which can sort the one from the other - at least we're not alone in this, but have Mother Church to guide us in how we should respond. At least life isn't boring ;)
Mr. Thomas - are you new to the group too, or have I scandalously missed you? If so, welcome and happy Easter!
J. S. - I missed your intro a few days ago, my apologies. It's so good to have you here, another cradle Catholic, yay ;) I hope that you feel welcome here.

I don't think I've been here before, so you didn't miss me...
Hi, My name is Sara. I recommend the book ,,He liked Tuesdays best". Book speaks about an ordinary day of John Paul II in the Vatican, about what was making him emotional and what was making him laugh, about his conversations with important politicians, about to whom he confided and what he read, about what he really liked to sing and who he invited for holidays, about how he was celebrating the New Year’s Eve and why he liked Tuesdays…http://jp2books.com
Hello,My name is Zachary; I'm a seminarian of the Diocese of Des Moines, and a bookworm.
I'm currently reading a number of books by Chesterton for fun. Right now I'm on "The Ball and the Cross" which is one of his fictions, but more overtly philosophical than some of his others.
Hope to have some good discussions!
Hi Zachary! Good luck in your path to serving God and minister to His people. I am a fan of philosophy too. It keeps mi mind busy on good thoughts and brings awareness. Nice to meet you!
Hi Zachary, good to have you here :) I'm reading a bunch of books about logic at the moment and (sort of) enjoying the headaches that accompany them. People who really study this kind of stuff have my admiration ;)
Hi, I'm Ethel :) I'm a cradle-Catholic mother of 3 lovely daughters and employed full-time as a software developer. I get time to read because my husband is a SAHD and handles most of the housework. I'm in a local Catholic book club reading "The Jesuit Guide to Almost Everything", plus reading through the Ignatius Study Bible (in "Judges" right now). We're reading some good books, but I would love to discover more - so I searched for "catholic" on this site, and here I am!
Hi! I think I'm going to love this group! I'm a cradle Catholic but fell away from the faith at college in the 70's. I kind of came back to the Church went I got married and had a child but it wasn't until 2005 when I said, that's it, I'm following *all* the teachings of the Catholic Church, no more of this lukewarm stuff. :-) I love being Catholic and I love learning more about my faith. It's like trying to drink of out a fire hose. :-)

Hello Zachary, welcome to this site, and thank you for your decision to enter seminary and by His grace, to continue toward service to the Lord and His people as a priest.
I know you have a lot of required reading in your studies - but since you are a self-described "bookworm", maybe you can fit in a few non-required works as well. I'd like to recommend a book on traditional Catholic spirituality, The Ordinary Path to Holiness (paperback) or The Ordinary Path to Holiness (revised for Kindle or Nook e-reader).
I wrote this book especially to introduce Catholic laity to the spiritual treasure we have in the Church - an understanding of the journey to holiness lived by our saints and spiritual giants that is ancient, profound, beautiful - and largely unknown and unheard of! It can be helpful to you as well, I think, in your own personal pilgrimage. I know that when I came across this precious Catholic wisdom in my own theology studies, I was in awe. I knew a book needed to be written, that others might also see what God has provided for us in this life, on our walk toward eternity.

After making some feeble attempts to be in communion with the Church, after self describing myself and an atheist for many years, God gave the opportunity to fully practice the Faith on 2004.
Thank you, Mr. Richards.I've heard of your book "the Interior Liturgy of the Our Father" but I'm afraid I've never read any of your books. I will certainly look into "the Ordinary Path to Holiness."
Hello Zachary. Please tell me - how did you come to hear of The Interior Liturgy of the Our Father (paperback or revised Kindle/Nook versions also now)? It has not been well-advertised or promoted, I'm sorry to say. It certainly was a great privilege - an honor - to write, as the Lord allowed me to see much in this, His most beautiful prayer-gift, and to grow in my appreciation for it, beyond description.
