Sometimes when I'm trying to make a name for my character, I'll look up names by their meaning. I'll usually use something that's similar to a trait of the characters. (ie: angel, messenger, etc)

On problem with Maddie, she comes up with names I can't pronounce. Reading her stories can be a task. Sorry MAddie. I still love you!

I haven't had any troubles with her names yet. I think they're good.

I don't like to reuse names when I can help it... cause it's like every name has a different personality attached to it. And I like to have different if not very different personalities for each character, whether or not they're in different rps/stories.

It depends on me, when a roleplay group is dead I use that name again but like what you said, I use different names for the same reason.

seee.... I reuse them..... cuz if I have too many names.... I start calling people by the wrong name.... but it depends on the rp.... I have an Astartoh.... and a Nila..

If I reuse the name, I'm probably reusing the character as well.

when I first started all of my characters were different, with no similarities.. I can't really do that any more... I've had to reuse many names. But I've never reused a past, so that's cool..

I need help coming up with a name for a character. Simply put, she's a shadow walker and very stubborn.

Darker sounding names:

Briony (darkness connotation)
Roma (Like this one a lot)
Astrid (means star; ironic)
Luna (moon)
Vega (I believe it means falling star)

Do you want a really unique name, or a more common type name?

Also, less modern more... Oldern? Or fantasy-ish?

Well I'm thinking fantasy ish.
Here's a quick description: Thin, long black hair, pale skin, has the magical ability to control shadows.
Buuuut, because of the nature of her role in the story I'm coming up with, a name that meant something like "Dawn" or "horizen" but also sounded more flat (to fit the tones of the other names of her people) will also be acceptable.

Melanie, I'm like Aris! I think I actually have a different character in mind that name would fit perfectly! Thanks!

Oh, Vanilla, Also, I'm thinking of using Shawn for another story I have in mind, but his name is a little odd for such a world. If you have any other names that would fit him, that'd be helpful.

I thought so. Yeah, I used that one from time to time, but seeing as I usually just throw names for my character's and hope for the best, my name choosing experience has been mainly to help other people.

Does Shawn still have Shawny powers?

I think he will basically be the same. Though I'm still working out how to make him still a halfling cuz I really like that part. But so far, there's no point to the story to have him be one. If I can't figure it out, I'll just move Shawn to a different story and make a new character for the one I'm working on.

But I want it to be Shawn cuz this character lives in a fire tribe and accidentally sets things on fire a lot. which is very shawn like.

Glad to be of assistance! I like Aris for shadow the best of the options, though water wouldn't be bad either. :)

Also, for your main character, you said that you wanted a name that would sort of match the names of her people. Can you give me a few examples of those town names so I can know what to look for, please?

I agree with Melanie. Though honesty, it sound the most like an air name.

I think I'm going to go with Aris for my shadow girl. Unless I hear another I like better, but so far I haven't.

I'm still formulating what kind of sounds his people will have. But they're fire people, so something that sounds like a fire... Yeah, I know that's vage
