Into the Forest discussion

I just started this book, and I can't believe it was published in 1996! The author writes about an attack on a major landmark before 9/11, she eludes to a natural disaster in the south, before Katrina, and she talks about a war before the war in Iraq (I know this one isn't much of a stretch). Does anyone else think this is a little creepy?

It's been a while since I read this, but it was good. I wonder if she was inspired by the craziness leading up to the Y2K non-event, which was being predicted even then.

Makes you think about how you would fare if society just broke down doesn't it?
