Fantasy Book Club Series discussion

The first scene in this book features Fionn Areth and Dakar in the tavern Kittiwake and as usual, I find myself irritated by him and his apparent dim-wittedness. He picks a fight with Dakar that -- not unexpectedly -- erupts into a tavern brawl and belatedly remembers that his last brawl landed him in the dungeon and almost burned at the stake because of his resemblance to Arithon.

Even if the brawl hadn't erupted, his obstreperous behavior would draw attention to the two of them as Dakar quite plainly warns him.

Is anyone else annoyed by his obtuseness and stupidity? What do some of you make of it?

On the whole, I'm annoyed with that character. But I'm annoyed with most adolescents. Jeynsa also annoyed me after Arithon swore his oath of protection to her as his caithdein. Last I remember, he's no longer even under Arithon's protection, since he returned to Allestron with Arithon's two 'bodyguards' when he broke off the alliance.

Oh yes, Jeynsa and also Glendien annoyed me no end. But I'm pretty sure that Arithon still considers him under his protection. I wanted to slap all three of them silly. Stuff like that brings out my critical parent, lol. Maybe Glendien doesn't show up until Stormed Fortress, so I won't say more about her.

Glendien's first appearance is in Traitor's Knot, so she's fair to discuss provided you don't reveal her destiny.
