I just picked it up and haven't cracked it - but what are your first thoughts? I'm pretty curious about this one ...

I'm about 1/3 of the way through it and have found it intriguing. The plot may be familiar but the unique take on magic and the absence of your typical sword wielding hero (at least so far) have me engrossed in the book. I was a bit skeptical on this one (not sure why, I almost always find something to like about any fantasy), but have been pleasantly surprised. Hopefully the rest of the book will hold up. In fact, I think I'll go curl up in bed and read some more.
I've got too much backlog on my TBR pile so I'm going to pass on this one even though I picked up a free copy a year or so ago.
I'm about 50% in (I got an early start)and am really liking it. I like the magical system, it's very different and really interesting. I like the political intrigue and the band-of-thieves aspect. I also have to say you're just pissing off the gods and setting yourself up for failure anytime you call your empire the "Final" empire.;)
I read it last year -- zoomed through all 3 of them in short order, in fact. Loved, loved, loved it!
I'm at 20% and I'm liking this world alot ... and like Donna said, the magical system is very interesting. A fantasy novel set on world with a red sun is a cool little twist - and I'm curious if its a red giant or if the ash is discoloring it and how or if the sun's color is relevant ... For that matter, what's the deal with all the ash?
I'm 80% in and am still wondering about all the ash and that plants aren't green. Interesting. I'm guessing they go into more explanations in the later books. I'm enjoying the allomantic fight scenes - very Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
I'm about 14% through the book. I keep thinking that I've read it before but can't find it on any list from the last 3 years. But then again I dead read his Warbreaker book and may have had a sample of Mistborn. Anyway, I am enjoying the book so far and the characters are likable and make me want to continue on in the story.
I'm just into the beginning of the book, about 10% in. Finding it a good read so far. The characters are intersting and likable. The setting has some mystery. The overall plot is familiar enough to make it a quick read (if I wasn't trying to read several books at once. Still getting over the need to collect every book ever on the nook:) ).
I read Mistborn last year, but only recently read the second book in the series. While I liked Mistborn on the whole, I didn't find it as mesmerizing as many people have. My main issue was with Sanderson's character portrayal. It felt like he was trying too hard to make them natural, which resulted in the opposite.
Finished it and was so glad to have the next book ready and waiting on the nook. Enjoyed all aspects of the book--the unique magic systems, the politics and the character development.
I immediately read the next twoo books in the series. Was very pleased with them.
I read the second only a year after, still haven't picked up the third but I believe I will soon enough.
I've read all three and am now on a quest to read more of Sanderson's work. Apparently, all his worlds are in the same universe and a character appears in all of them. My dear husband and one of his co-workers border on obsessed. They have read all his work.He has also posted on his site that he has been working on another Mistborn triology. Hopefully, he will finish the Wheel of Time first. :)
I haven't read the series yet but the first 3 on are on my Kindle and planning on reading the first one this year as a 2012 book read. Looking forward to this series.
I've read the full trilogy and absolutely love it. I recently got an electronic copy of a novella set in the same world and by Brandon Sanderson. I'm not sure if you can buy it individually but I got it bundled with the Mistborn RPG (yes, I am a big nerd).
The Mistborn trilogy ranks up there on my list of memorable books. I really got to care about the characters. I'd rate it a bit below The Hunger Games but it was still well done.
I recently read the whole trilogy back to back. Loved it! I think the series just gets stronger and stronger as it progresses. Book 3 turns a lot of what you think you know from 1&2 on it's head, which made it very interesting reading. The last series I enjoyed as much was Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" books.
