Atalanta followed closely behind, dumping her bag on a nearby table and grinning victoriously. Beat the bell again!
((that's what i wonder.))
Matt slid in next to her, as the bell rang. "That was soo close."

Atalanta nodded, still short of breath. She unloaded her Potions book and pulled over a cauldron. According to the blackboard, today they'd be making a potion to cure tuberculosis. Very difficult, it seemed, and would take all class.
Penelope quickly and quietly walked in, hiding her face with her hair and sunglasses. She then took her seat. In a week or 2 she would be popular again, and her bruises would be gone.
Matt pulled out his things, and groaned. "I figured out what I forgot,' he whispered to her. "My potions book. Share with me?"
Atalanta glanced over at Penelope, then back at the board.
Add two ounces of crushed beetle eyes, it read, Then stir clockwise for two minutes over a low flame. Then, stoke the flames higher to a rapid boil, adding a cup of Gillyweed extract and stirring constantly counterclockwise. Let simmer for an hour, then add two drops of dragon's blood and a pinch of powdered bubotuber pus, wearing dragonskin gloves.
((gotta go, baking cookies!))

((atalanta but she's gone now :P ))
Matt took her silence as a yes and started adding the ingrediants needed into his cauldron.

((oh okay))Penelope quietly followed the instructions on the board. She flipped open her book so she wouldn't have to look up at the board. She started adding the ingredients, following all the instructions, until she got to a point where the potion exploded. Penelope groaned. This was just what she didn't need. Attention.
Atalanta flinched at the explosion, drops of a sticky blue liquid raining down on her. Her skin began to itch, then it grew worse. "Ouch!" she cried, trying to wipe the stuff off herself.
Atalanta shook her head, rubbing herself vigorously. This was worse than bug bites and poison ivy combined!
Professor Nyx hurried over to the disaster area. "All right, students, whoever has been hit-- and you'll know it, believe you me-- come up to my desk. I have an antidote ready."

Penelope had gotten the stuff all over her face. She groaned as she told herself not to scratch it. Lauren was laughing at Atalanta, mocking that she got hit.
Atalanta made a silent vow to get back at Lauren. She bet the stupid Slytherin had had something to do with it. Humiliated, she walked up to Professor Nyx's desk.
Penelope looked at Atalanta. The bruises could stll be seen on her face. "Sorry. I accidentally messed up my potion."
Atalanta smiled as she applied a green salve to her face and arms.
"It's OK, you didn't mean to," she said. She caught sight of Penelope's bruises, but didn't want to pry.

Matt fortuneatly hadn't been hit by the potion, thanks to Savanah rudley bumping into him, seeing as they weren't even on the same side of the table.
Penelope started rubbing the green salve on her face. She noticed Atalanta looking at her bruises on her face. "My uncle abuses me." she whispered so only Atalanta could hear.
Atalanta's eyes widened. "Oh..." she said, trying to put all her sympathy into her gaze. The poor girl, that was why she was always hiding her face.
Penelope looked at Atalanta pleadingly. "Please don't tell anyone! Everyone will laugh at me. Just please don't."
Atalanta nodded. "I'll keep the secret, don't worry. And I do know some very nasty people who'd laugh." she added, turning to face Jenna. Atalanta smeared the last of her paste onto her left arm and went to sit back down. No sense drawing attention to herself.
Penelope narrowed her eyes at Jenna. "I wouldn't eavesdrop if I were you. It could get you into trouble." She then finished smearing the paste on her face and quickly went to sit back down, her hair covering her face as the whole class stared at her.
"You alright?" Matt asked Atalanta, trying to finish his potion. "I didn't know where you left off, so I couldn't work on yours too." His eyes flickered from the chalkboard at the front, to the clock, to his caludron. The spill had made him lose some crucial minutes of work and potions was the one class he need to do extremly well in.
"I wasn't eavesdropping, I heard you without meaning too, besides, trouble and I have a long relationship" She called after penelope
"Just leave me alone!" Penelope shouted sharply. The class stared at her even more. She grabbed her books and ran out of the room, crying.
Karyn wrote: ""You alright?" Matt asked Atalanta, trying to finish his potion. "I didn't know where you left off, so I couldn't work on yours too." His eyes flickered from the chalkboard at the front, to the clo..."
Atalanta sighed. Her potion had, in the time since she'd been splattered, turned a nasty shade of green. "Well, that doesn't look good." she murmured, poking the fire gently with her wand.

"I'm actually not sure if that's the color it's supposed to be," Matt said, comparing her green to his black. "What color is it supposed to be?"
Atalanta shrugged. "I have to say, Potions isn't my strongest subject," she said sheepishly, following the instructions as best she could. "Either way, I don't think I'm going to do well with this assignment."
"For all we know, your's is perfect," Matt told her encoureagly. "I'm kind of afraid to keep adding to it."
((can i safely assume that potions is over?))
((Sure. I think my response got lost in translation, though. I don't remember what Atalanta said. ))
((it's up there, but with all the drama that just finished and the apperent failur of most cauldrons, class could just be dismissed!))
((Mkay. (Dinnertime, probably won't be on till tomorrow. Watching a movie after dinner. Writing in fragments, no subjects. Will fix later. Maybe.))
((kays bye))
Matt looked up as the class ended. His cauldron didn't look much better than beofre, but at least it hadn't blown up. He grabbed a vial, grabbing a sample of the potion and leaving it with his name on the Proffesor's desk. Matt cleared his cauldron with a flick of his wand and hoisted his bag on his shoulder, leaving the dungeons.

Atalanta followed, packing up a semi-fixed smoking cauldron and heading to the door. ((Didn't see that last post, sorry! But I did figure out how to display all topics in the folders! Yay!))
Matt waited outside the dungeons for Atalanta. "What's next?" he asked her, not remembering his own scheduale yet. "Do we even have teh same classes this year?"
Matt gave her a crocked grin. "Yeah...I'm not exactly sure where I put it. But what are you training for? We could be taking the same classes for similar jobs."
Atalanta shrugged. "Not too sure. I don't know I like the sound of working for the Ministry. I think I'd like to work with other magical beings, or other countries. Like an ambassador or something."
((SO sorry. GR didn't tell me this was here. Grrr GR. If you'll notice, it happens a lot.))

"Isn't that like working in the ministry? Just in a branch of itthough."
((The spacebar isnt working welltoday. Srry))

"Yeah, but not in in the Ministry. I'd get out and about, and work with interesting people." Atalanta explained.
"What about you?"
"What about you?"
"But it's still for the Ministry," Matt pointed out. "And until they send you out, you work in the ministry. Me? I want to work in the Ministry too. Both my parents work there, so I'm thinking Auror, like my da."
