Easy enough to combine both -- what about 'The Diamond Age: A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer' by Neal Stephenson?
The Diamond Age: A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer by Neal Stephenson WAS AMAZING! I've already read it, but I wouldn't mind reading it again.

I agree. I've read it, but I'd love to read it again. It's a great novel.
Hmm... If we've both read it before, maybe we should read something different. Lets poll for some other steam punk novels.
I09 posted a bunch of relatively new ones.
The New Amsterdam series looks interesting (of course I will assume everyone has read it and I'm behind as usual). The Bluntline Special looks like it has potential, but the Cowboys (or scientists as it were) vs. Indians theme makes me a little nervous (yes, I'm an overly sensitive PC liberal, I'll admit it).
Or if we want female centric, we can go Parasol Protectorate (Soulless, Changeless, Blameless by Gail Carriger).
I've been wanting to read Soulless, so I'm going to vote the Parasol Protectorate series for January.
I haven't read the New Amsterdam Series, but I've liked Elizabeth Bear's other works (particularly Dust). I have read Soulless and it was quite fun.
Dorilys wrote: "Or if we want female centric, we can go Parasol Protectorate (Soulless, Changeless, Blameless by Gail Carriger)."I freaking love the whole of the Parasol Protectorate series. I have a huge crush on Madame Lefoux. I firmly recommend the whole damn series to anyone who likes sci fi, steampunk, or strong lead females.
Dorilys wrote: "Or if we want female centric, we can go Parasol Protectorate (Soulless, Changeless, Blameless by Gail Carriger)."I have already read the whole series. What about 'The Windup Girl'? I meant to read it when IO9 did the book group on it, but I never got around to it.
Slay, I tried the Windup Girl and couldn't get through it. How about a re-read of Soulless and you and I also read "The Bluntline Special"?
Dorilys wrote: "I think Soulless and Buntline Special for anyone not interested in Soulless!"I added them. I think anyone who has access to the group can.
Oooo! Nice! I just got Buntline Special from the library and as soon as I finish the book on my Nook, I'm starting it!
Dorilys wrote: "I was a little disappointed by The Buntline Special."You and me both. I gave up on reading it, actually. I found the pacing off and the 'then he said, then she said' aspect of it irritating. On the other hand, I also read the 3rd Parasol Protectorate book, Blameless, and liked it quite a bit.

I thought of this as another Jezzie Book Group but nothing really worked out that way. What do you guys want out of this?
Also, what books should be up for discussion in January?
