If you were to recommend one or two of your favorite books to this group, what would they be?

I just finished reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. It was excellent -- probably the best contemporary book I've read in many years.

My two all-time favorites are "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck and "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

"Love Medicine" by Louise Erdrich is absolutely one of my favorites. Her lyrical writing is unmatched.

I definitely want to read "The Road," and I really like Louise Erdrich. I have a few of her books on my shelf waiting to be read, but I haven't read Love Medicine. I will now though!
