Don't let the name confuse you-- the circus is a long track that runs around a part of the field. Race with friends on foot, pegasus, or chariot!

Robin floated around the sidelines, too shy to get any closer. She would admire the brave campers from afar, though, they were interesting to watch.

Simply out for a stroll, Sappho-- her previously long hair cut to a short angular bob that framed her vividly pretty face-- tried desperately to wipe all evidences of sleepiness from her face. Her notebook was, as usual, in her hand.

Seeking a better view of the racers, Robin walked along the edge of circus, keeping her eyes on the action. Too absorbed to notice anything in front of her, she crashed into another camper.
"I-I-I'm so sorry." Taking in short gasps of breath, Robin rubbed her forehead there she had collided with a pretty, short-haired girl.

The sun glances off the hull of the stands in the most interesting-- oof!
Stumbling back, Sappho's surprise showed for a split second before she replaced it with one of her soft grins. "It's fine, I was out of it as well," she amended. She recognized the poor girl as one from the Deimos cabin.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Robin's anxiety levels went down when it registered that it wasn't one of the Ares bullies or Phobos creeps. One less thing to worry about.
"I hope I didn't hit you too hard," she fretted, the spot where she had been hit throbbing a little.

"I'm fine, I hardly felt it myself. I was just admiring the sun on the wood," Sappho said in her low voice, pointing to the gloss of the stands that shone in the most mesmerizing way underneath the light.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

"The engravings are fascinating," Robin chirped (pun not intended) in her high voice, a stark contrast from the other girl's poetic voice. She matched the tone with the cabin, and then the name, "You're Sappho, yes?"

"Yes," came the reply after a length of scribbling in the notebook. Large caramel eyes blinked in a warm smile at Robin. "Robin," she said with a nod.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Robin nodded. Uncertain if the recognition was a bad thing or not, her panicky aura grew a tad stronger, enough to tickle at Sappho's calm air. "What are you writing?" she asked in hopes of calming down.

"A poem." Rich in tone and reassuring. "Would you like me to read it to you?"

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh, sure," Robin said, peering curiously at the page. She was feeling more at ease and the shaking of her fingers diminished into rhythmic taps.

"It is only a heart beat ahead of breaking------
and I am the hunger and the assuagement,
and also I am the leaves and the blossoms,
and, like them, I am full of delight, and shaking.
"

Hummingbird. Sappho marked the title down after reading the poetry out in her mellifluous tone.

[Poem excerpt by Mary Oliver, I take no credit.]

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

"Wow, you really have talent," Robin breathed, her eyes widening into green saucers. She admire the talents of others, something she didn't really have.

"Thank you," Sappho beamed, fighting the urge to smile at Robin's expression. "Do you enjoy poetry?"

[WHOA I JUST REALIZED THAT I KNOW THIS TOTAL B/TCH CALLED ROBIN. o.o]

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

((.....I come here to apologize for not replying and see that^. If my name was Robin I would be laughing even harder. Maybe.))
"I don't read much of it in particular, but yes, I do. It's like painting a picture with words, but I can fathom how people write it so well," Robin said, her wide eyes growing dreamy as she spoke.

Bonus points for eloquent response.

"I find it better than pictures, because everyone has a different imagination. One word may trigger a different image in your mind than mine. For example," Sappho said, her voice a calm and lulling song in itself, "what do you see when I say... drift?"

message 18: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 18, 2011 02:21PM) (new)

Robin hesitated in her response, the word triggered some very different thoughts. "Well," she began timidly, wringing her hands restlessly. "I think of drifting cars, and then crashes," she admitted quietly, wincing internally.

Leeanne walked on the track for a long walk. She wanted very much to spend time with her friend Dylan, but she had not seen him for awhile. He never answered her last note, so she guessed he was busy with his girlfriend. These days she was lonely with nothing much important to do. Ever since she learned what it meant to be in love, she found herself forever bored with her usual pass-times.
Lee sighed under her breath, not particuarly wanting for others to hear her.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam stood on the edge of the circus, dark brown hair pulled inti an unusual, but nearly perfect ponytail. She wore small socks, short shorts, and a white tank-top that was cut a little too low for even her taste. She waited for the one girl to pass her. Her goal was to break her latest record. Who knew that track and field could take so much off the mind?

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Acton, on the other hand was wearing the average outfit at Camp-Half Blood-- meaning that he was wearing the well known orange T-shirt, and khaki shorts with too much pockets to count. He twirled his Morningstar casually, as he made his way towards the middle of the field, ignoring yelling charioteers as he passed them without a glance. They began swearing in Ancient Greek and shaking fists at him, but he ignored them.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Lee continued with her walk, silently. She had to pin it down. Who understood love anyway? Her own mother died before Leeanne could meet her. How did Lee know her mother loved her? What was love?
Fustration was clear on her face. A couple tears rolled down her cheeks, but she wiped them away. She did not need to start crying. It was not rational and besides this was a public place. Not a good place for tears.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam looked up at the all too familiar Greek cussing. Once she saw Acton, she made a face. What was with his tattoos? He looked like a piece of paper some artist had doodled on. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow, arms crossed over her chest.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

"What?" his facial expression asked Sam with a shrug of his shoulders, the tattoos in a blur. "What is it?" he asked, getting up and making his way towards Sam. "Got a problem?" he asked with a handsome smirk.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments "I do now," she replied with a smirk. "Who are you and hwat do you want?" Her tone wasn't rude' but it wasn't welcoming, either.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

It took a while for Acton to answer her questions. "I'm Acton, son of Hades, and I want to know what's the problem," he said ignore her tone,

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments "I don't have a problem," Sam said with a shrug. She looked him over once more, gray eyes assesing him. Maybe she could make a different impression of him, but no. "Tell me, were you part of some kind of experiment and those tattoos are little stamps claiming that you passed?" Her eyes glinted with mockery, abd her voice held a teasing, possibly flirtacious tone.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Acton raised his eyes in mock surprise in return. “Hardly anyone gets the right answer on their first time!” he exclaimed coolly.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam scoffed, turnig away from him to scan the rest of the area. The area seemed desrted, much to her unease. "First time for what? Tattoos?" She looked back at him with a raised eyebrow.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Acton rolled his eyes. "Wow, someone's thick," he muttered under his breath.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam rolled her eyes at him, angered at his insult, but not giving him the satisfaction of letting him see her anger. "Why the hostility?"

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

"Do you always act this stupid?" Acton wondered out loud, looking towards the sky innocently.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam rolled er eyes, supressing the urge to kick him. "Sure. Why not?" Feeling more annoyed than ever, she changed the subject. "Wann race me?" She asked him, pulling the back of her shirt so that the front pulled up.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Acton bit his nails, an annoying habit of his. "Sure," he said, "why not?"

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam looked at his nails, and made a face. "You really souldn't do that. It ruins your nails." She bent dwon, placing her fingers on her toes to stretch out her legs.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

"Bah!" he said, though he did as he was told. "I don't really care bout those."

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam smirked, stretching out the other leg so she was facing him. "I see. So, run the whole track,or would you rather stop at one point?" She asked, jerking her head toward the opposite side of the track.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

((Can Acton win? ^^))

"Whole track," he said, without looking at the place she had indicated to.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments (('Course!))
Sam nodded wordlessly, bending down so that her pamls hit the floor all the way. She took in a deep breathe, looking over at Acton with a smile.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Acton ignored the fact that she was stretching. He had never seen a reason to. All you needed was energy. No one does splits while running, do they?

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Standing back up, Sam stretched out her arms, swinging them over her head. "You aren't gonna stretch?" She asked him, tilting her head to the side.

[Fool. You have to stretch to get the muscles going.]

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

A bark of laughter left Acton's vocal cord as he yanked his head back. "Of course not!" he said, leaning on his knees. "I'm not going to be doing acrobatics while running, am I?"

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments Sam rolled her eyes, a small smile flickering across her face. She stopped stretching, smile still in place as she stepped forward. "You may not do arobatics, but stretching will get your muscles warmed up," she explained patiently.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

"Bah!" he said again, waving away the thought. "Perish the thought! I get warned up the first two seconds of the race."

((BAI!))

Acton ignored her, but he raised an eyebrow when her back was turned. "Let's bet, then," he said, tapping his foot against the grass. "If I win, then..."
