Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's by John Elder RobisonMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book was hard to read at times because of some of the things that happened to the author when he was a child but he overcame the abuse and learned to adapt to things that had troubled him in his youth. He was very thorough in his descriptions of major events and jobs he had. He had some cool jobs such as working for Kiss and milton bradley in the electronics department. He also was very gifted all along despite what others might of said about him being failure and that he belonged in jail. He never stopped trying despite all of this and he is still succeeding today with his auto repair company. I think that John Elder Robinson is a great example that people do not have to let their disabilities limit them from their dreams. He has made it easier for people with asperger's to talk about what this condition means and that it doesn't make them bad or stupid. I was very interested in the way he named the people close to him different names then they were actually named such as his first wife being called little bear and his son cubby. I also liked that he called his little brother snort and then called him varmit when he got a little older and now just calls him 'hey' or 'my brother'. I am also glad that was able to come to some resolve with both of his parents about the things that happened in the past. I highly recommend this book to anyone dealing with asperger's or any type of family issues.
