Might want to take a look at those two sentences and maybe combine them?

I LOVE the names of mundane objects and nicknames for humans. Nice little touches that bring an imagined world to life. The first chapter makes me want to know more about that world and the main character which is all an author can ask!

The 'writing exercise' was good! It immediately pulls you in. The description of wasps was clever showing some danger. The entire story leading up to the encounter is really mysterious and makes the reader long for more. very nicely done i thought! The only thing that sorta annoyed me, just a bit, was 'skinny bare' arms. dunno why. Perhaps I wondered why that element was important and could've been described more simply. but nit-picking. best of luck!

Tonight is the night is my first foray into thriller/horror/suspense writing, it's only a short story for a competition (prompt was to write about a photo of strange man in a trenchcoat) I entered on GR and won. :)

Emotion is another very short competition entry, the prompt is in the description.
