Forsythia inhaled deeply, the sweet, dusty smell of new and old books was a comforting smell. She traded her Florean Fortescue's apron for Flourish and Blotts night shift. It was a pretty relaxed atmosphere, mostly study groups and middle aged witches out for the latest from whoever was on the Daily Prophet's Bestseller list.
((Rita Skeeter is a thing of the past lol))
Forsythia set out all the Hogarts list on the table near the front. It was the time of year when they all lost books and came in for new copies.
It was a good first day for Linda, although she didn't get to meet her co worker but hey, nothing exploded (as far as she knows).
Linda walked into the store and began setting up a new display filled with books for the new school year.((I'm ignoring the fact that I seem to be the only one who comes in here, after all somebody has to keep those monster books from ripping each other apart))
((Haha don't worry about it. I'll have one of my characters come in soon... they're all a little busy, with Professor Pine's office on fire and whatnot.))
((Professor Pine's office is on fire?!?!?!?!? (Not that I know who that is, maybe I should create another character?)))
((sounds interesting! I definitely need to think up another character, any suggestions for interesting jobs? oh, and how would Linda go about becoming a Death eater? (okay, so I think Linda's probably a good girl but I sooo want a Death eater!!)))
((Well, for the Death Eater thing all you have to do is go to the "Apply here to be a Death Eater" topic. For another character, I would recommend a teacher job or a student. Have fun!))
Linda stepped into the shop after purchasing her new wand from Ollivander's and hurried to the desk to see if there were any new orders but all was quite as she had left it, so she sat down to wait for a customer.
Her work complete for the day Linda walked towards the door but before she could lock it an owl swooped in and dropped a letter on the pile of books by the entryway, the letter was from an old friend inviting her to Hogsmeade so she wrote a note to Forsythia and left it on the desk.
"Ah, back at last" said Linda quietly to herself as she walked behind the desk, Hogsmeade was nice to visit but nothing compared to Diagon alley.
A Woman walks in the shop "Hello, My Name Is Minerva McGonagall The Third. I need any charms books you have writen by Miranda Goshawk"McGonagall says
"Hmm, I believe we only have six in stock but I can order the rest, and have them here in a couple of days, if thats alright?" replied Linda((McGonagall the third! LOVE THAT!!))
"Yes! Thank You!, I will be round in a couple of days to pick up the rest" McGonagall said
((Thx!!))
((Thx!!))
Linda unpacked the new boxes of books and began stacking them on the floor until she would have time to shelf them, only just remembering to set aside the Miranda Goshawk books for the prof.
McGonagall reached into he pocket an pulled out 12 galleons " here are the galleons" she said as she placed them on the counter grabbed her books and as she was in a hurry apparated out of the shop
Shane walked into Flourish & Blotts looking around the book-shop he smiled. He always felt at home around books and wands, he never knew why but he did. His father was more of a fighting man and prefered DADA and his mother had loved Charms from what he knew.
Shane's eyes stopped on Linda and he smiled. "Hello again." Shane said walking up to the front desk and Linda.
Shane's eyes stopped on Linda and he smiled. "Hello again." Shane said walking up to the front desk and Linda.
"Hi! You looking for anything in particular?" asked Linda smiling and putting down the book she had been reading.
"No, just fancied getting out of the shop and didn't feel like walking and remembered your job here, thought I'd pop in and say hello again," Shane smiled at her. "What book are you reading?"
"The history of the British Ministry of magic as researched by Jackie Tinkerjen" replied Linda grimacing "Its aah... interesting? Not really but its new and I'm supposed to keep up with books like this" she finished
Shane chuckled nodding. "I know, I pick a book because it sounds fascinating and find out its boring... but then I feel obligated to finish it and it just... well you know how it goes." Shane smiled.
"Yes I certainly do, but don't tell my boss I said that, I'm supposed to say every book in this store is a perfect read, even though I wouldn't read half of them, now this one" she said turning and picking up a large leather-bound book intitled "The legacy of the Hogwarts founders and their descendents" "This is actually worth reading, it has a lot of facts and legends that have never been published before and is told almost like fiction so its an easy read" she said sliding it across the counter towards him
"How much is it?" Shane asked raising a brow, he ran a hand over the cover smiling at the feeling of leather. "If it's not too much I'll defienately get it, oh and no worries, your secret is safe with me." Shane smiled at her.
"Well then can't let that deal get away from me eh?" Shane said and pulled out the 4 galleons from his pocket and handed them to Linda. "How has that wand been working for you?" Shane asked grabbing the book.
"very well, thank you!" she answered "although I do have one question, it keeps spitting sparks when I do simple cleaning spells, any thoughts?" she asked "oh, and do you want the book wrapped?"
"Well, it could just be it getting used to its new master but if it continues on bring it back and I'll take a look at it," Shane offered. "No, no wrapping thank-you."
"No, I just wanted to pop by and see how you were and how the wand was," Shane shrugged. "Like I said just come by and let me look at it if it continues." Shane smiled before leaving, heading back to Ollivanders.
Linda was dusting off the books that were perched on the staircase when suddenly she tripped, crashing through the railing and landing on top of a medium size bookcase, books and various paraphernalia fell all around her tumbling onto the floor with loud bangs.
"Hello? Is anyone here" An elderly woman shouts as she walks in the shop holding a book a some papers, it was Lyla Buckingfield a authur and charms expert she was wearing all white clothes with a ruby ring and necklace on.
"Just a minute please!" shouted Linda from the top of the nearest bookcase, "I'm a little bit stuck, do you see a wand laying on the ground? I badly need it"
"Sorry, in my old age my vision sometimes fails me"she then saw the wand and sent it towards linda with the swish of her wand
"Thank you!" said Linda before muttering a spell and floating gently to the ground, she then waved her wand at the books and various odds and ends scattered on the floor and they swooped towards the shelves, her wand suddenly started spitting sparks and she hurriedly put it down before turning to the old lady and saying "sorry about that, now what can I do for you?"
