Hi Kaitlyn how are you? I have read few of your books and I like them. I love to read interracial stories but on occassion I have read other stories...like your books. I was hoping you would write a story with black female heroine in one of your sci-fi or fantasy books. Pleas hook a sistah up...we don't mind running from and been capture bye good looking alien, were, or demon male or two.
I love Cinquetta's comment. Don't we all like that? I think we women are more drawn than men generally are to something different, such as alien types with horns, wings, fur, whatever--as long as they are strong and have interesting personalities.
Hi, I'm Pamela. I love romantic suspense and historical romance the best. I'm really not too into the scifi scene but a GR member recommend you and I ended up loving your stories.
Thanks for the invitation to the group, Kaitlyn. I write PI novels, but I enjoy fantasy and "soft SF" as well. Looking forward to the Q&A.
Kaitlyn wrote: "Tell me about yourself. What are your favorite books to read?"I like mystery like Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael mysteries, and also sci-fi, paranormal, and other genres combined with romance. When I was about twelve (a long time ago) I discovered Edgar Rice Burroughs and read most all of his Martian series and Venus and Tarzan series etc. I did the same thing I've heard other people say they did when they read the Martian series. I looked up at the sky (not actually knowing which way Mars was) and wished to be transported to that world just as Burroughs hero, John Carter did. It didn't work. Good thing, since Mars is nothing like as described in Burrough's books. On one of his cosmology shows I heard Carl Sagan say he did that same thing as a kid.
Maybe the Edgar Rice Burroughs books were the beginning of my love of heroes who are strong, noble, maybe with a primitive side and crazy about the heroine. Nowadays I like heroes who have some emotional vulnerabilities. Although, as I remember Burroughs' heroes had some emotional vulnerability related to the heroine. I sometimes reread old Mary Stewart mystery/suspense/ romances which are some of my early all time favorites. (You can tell from my writing that "I don't know nothin" about writing in well thought out paragraphs. I also read "Gone With the Wind' as a teenager.)
I have read and enjoyed a lot of Jayne Anne Krentz books. I wasn't drawn to the business angle in her books, but it works as a backdrop for some good romances. I also have enjoyed reading the "Mercy Thompson" series by Patricia Briggs.

Hi Cinquetta! I'm fine. You? As far as inter-racial stories go, have you read Clone Wars: Armageddon? It's a futuristic/sci-fi erotica. It was part of the Harmony line at New Concepts Publishing.

Thank you! I'm glad you've enjoyed my stories. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and haven't been writing like I should be, but hearing things like that definately inspire me to try harder!

The one problem I've always had with sci-fi and fantasy is that there are usually two (Or more!) characters you want to get together, and they never do!

Hi Sarah!
On another note--This is such a cool coincidence! I LOVED Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars series! Mary Stewart was one of my favorite Suspense writers. (I was so upset when she moved from romantic suspense to fantasy!) I read Gone With the Wind like four or five times and I was a big Jayne Anne Krentz fan, too!

Hi my name is Patty I am 41 and a retired Navy vet. I love romance and erotica. Some of my favs are historicals, scifi, and paranormal. I have read several of your books and enjoyed them
Thank you Patty! I love hearing that folks are enjoying to stories I've writen. It means a lot more than you probably know. Welcome to my little group!
Hi everyone...I like to read just about everything...it really depends on my mood. I have been on a PNR/UF/SFR reading binge for a while but like just about any well written story.Kaitlyn - I really enjoyed the stories I have read so far but it has been hard to find a listing with the series order (unless GR has updated this recently...have not checked) do you have site that shows the series order?
Kaitlyn wrote: "Emma- I would say Sleeping With the Enemy was my favorite, so try that one!"I haven't read that one but I have the ebook so I guess I ought get reading myself.
Nichole- I don't have a site that lists the series order, even my publisher doesn't.
Abiogenesis, Cyborg, Cyborg Nation, Rules of Engagement, Illumination, and Total Recall.
Genesis and The Gladiators are the first two in the Enslaved series.
When Night Falls and When Dawn Breaks are based on the same species.
Alien Penetration and Deep Penetration are the first two of the Alien Breeders series.
None of my other books have any particular reading order.

Thank you!
I love to read paranormal, urban fantasy and sci-fi romances. I prefer a story that moves along and I don't have to muddle through pages and pages of wardrobe or scenery descriptions. If I enjoy a book or series (like the cyborgs) I can easily read it again.
I was disappointed, too, when Mary Stewart switched from romantic suspense to fantasy. One of the things I always enjoyed about her books was how well her writing evoked a sense of place. Someone mentioned they like historical romance. "The Claiming" that you wrote, the one about the genetically engineered sex slave that escapes to a low tech world, is somewhat like a historical romance, because the world is like America in the 1800s. Plus the hero is quite like a the classic hero of that genre. I really enjoy the imaginativeness in your writing. You come up with such interesting ideas for stories and then write them so effectively.
I wanted to add that Ellis Peters Brother Cadfael mysteries, which take place in the Middle Ages, are wonderful stories.
One thing I've always liked about historicals is that they can so easily translate into futuristics. Just because you’re talking about the future, doesn’t mean the world has to be more advanced than ours is. I like to explore how modern people would react to being put into more primitive settings.
I don’t read like I used to- I hardly have the time now that I write. I get many of my ideas from the science community. I enjoy learning and science has always fascinated me.

I enjoy stories where people get marooned more or less on primitive planets. I liked Anne MaCaffrey's Freedom series in which earth people who have been enslaved by the Catteni (who are in turn controlled by another race) are dumped on a planet to see if they survive. There is the one lone Catteni also dumped. I remember the short story she wrote that was the original idea for the series. What kinds of science are you interested in that give you inspiration?
Mostly theories on space exploration. For example, I heard one scientist say that in a few years space colonization may be feasibly possible, that it wouldn’t be a problem sending a ship fast enough to reach the nearest star inside 60 years, but that stopping would take a lot longer. Not long after that, I heard one say that there was no point in sending men because we could just send their sperm along with a ship load of women. Points if you can figure out which story evolved from those two ideas! =)
I get ideas from other fields of science as well, like biology!

How could they possibly think sending just women off into space would work any better than sending only men?
It was that very thought that gave rise to the idea behind several of my other stories. There would have to be some sort of system, where women would pretty much have to have sex with the men on board. A man that never gets any could become dangerous after a while, especially knowing that everyone else was getting some!

Thats why I want more because I know you can do it. You know how to write a good fantasy or sci-fi story.
Hi Kaitlyn! Thanks for the invitation to this group. I have a lot of your books, and the series have their own shelves.I am frustrated that I can't get 'Discovery: The Forgotten' on Amazon for my Kindle. I want to read about those cyborgs!! I have over 750 books on Kindle and don't buy paperbacks anymore. Is there any place that has it in an ebook format that's compatible, like a .mobi or .prc file? Can you have it put on Amazon as a Kindle book, too?
Thanks.
Hi Valerie,I bought Discovery at www.fictionwise.com
They sell ebooks in multi format. This past Christmas they had a 70% off sale and I stocked up my kindle with new books.
Hi Kaitlyn! Thanks for the invitation to this group.
I read a lot of your books and I do love them.
I love to read paranormal, urban and dark fantasy and sci-fi romances and romantic suspence and mysteries
I especially like a strong heroine and a strong hero, best combined with some humor.
Pretty new to this type of genre - never been a fan of sci-fi/cyborgs but as the reviews from the Kindle Smut group were so favourable gave Book 1 Abiogenesis a go.Usually into darker murder/thriller/procedural stuff with some horror (but not vampires or shape shifters)
Thanks for the invite Kaitlyn! It made my day!I love to read Scifi, Paranormal, and Urban Fantasy. When it comes to my erotica, I definitely like SciFi and Paranormal the best. My introduction to SciFi erotica was a Kaitlyn O'Connor book and I was hooked. It was the first of the Enslaved series and I loved it. I still haven't gotten my hands on the second but no matter, I now own an ereader. I am a whore for the Cyborg series. They make be laugh and sweat. I think you are a great author Kaitlyn and my favorite thing about your books is that they have a storyline as well as that hot yummy steam most erotica readers love and a good dose of humor which is a sure thing for me when it comes to books.
Thanks for the invite =)I'm pretty eclectic, but in the past five plus years I've gotten hooked on paranormal romance. I love Dara Joy, J.R. Ward, Christine Feehan, Lora Leigh, and too many others to name. The hotter the better! My favorite Kaitlyn books are When Night Falls and When Dawn Breaks. Whew, hot, hot, hot!
Vampires are my personal favorites, but I love futuristic, paranormal, and anything but historical romance, though I will read a historical from time to time if it looks good =)
Misty- Thank you! I love to hear things like that! I really enjoyed writting the Enslaved books and have several others planned. I have a few more Cyborg books I'm plotting out as well.
Welcome Pam! I always enjoyed paranormal romance. One of the things I love about e-books is that in NY they don't really allow much in the way of innovation. They want all of the books to follow such strict guidelines that there are a lot of stories that never could have been told if not for the ebook industry. Like MY books! *LOL* They still want single heroes in NY, but I do better writing about multiple heroes.
Hi Kaitlyn, I don't see a way to post a new topic. I have a question for you. I just noticed you have a new book out, but its only part 1. How many parts will there be, and when will the rest of them come out? Will this be released in full form at some point? Thanks, Anne
The part that was recently released is indeed part one. I'm not sure what the final count will be as far as the number of parts go, but it will eventually come out as a full length. More than anything, this was done because I had so many fans asking about when the next release would be, but I still had so far to go as far as writing the book.
My favorite book of yours is the 9th Orb. I just find the love story so compelling. I would love to see this world in another generation.
Hi Kaitlyn,My name is Olga and I live in Norway. I am a structural engineer.
I love sci-fi. My favorites are about discovering new worlds, traveling through space to a new destination, developing discovered solar systems/planets ect.
I love all your books. Among other things I love them for a good sense of humor in them.
I really loved Adoptation
I am an avid reader, SF, Paranormal, Fantasy, MM and FM romance. I have read and reread The Ninth Orb about 4 times and am wondering if there will be a sequel. Want to see what happens further than 10 years out with this group of people. Whether the offspring have the telepathy....does the group on the planet's moon send more of their "unwanted" offspring.
