Nancy | 2838 comments We're now accepting nominations for April - May.

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

Only ONE nomination per person.

Please be sure to post the title and author.

Authors may nominate their own books, but please be available for our group discussion if it wins.

Please add your selections here. Once we get a sufficient number of titles, I will start up a poll. Each person may choose one title.

Remember, the authors should be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered, or feature significant gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered characters in their work. Queer can be interpreted as broadly as we like.

Any genre (SF/fantasy, horror, romance, mystery), non-fiction, and classics are acceptable. Based on this criteria, we should have plenty of books to choose from. If you are nominating a title that is part of a series, please make sure to nominate the first book, unless we have already read it as a group.

The book discussion will start April 1 and continue through the end of May. This should give everyone sufficient time to obtain and read the book.

Pia (piaveleno) | 11 comments I'd like to suggest a group PM for nominations/voting. The M/M romance group does that, and I never forget to vote. I tend to fall behind on forums, and those reminders allow me to come visit, not just for voting, but to catch up on other threads.

Matt (mattdunstan) | 24 comments Can I nominate another one? Desert Sons by Mark Kendrick.

I've now read my previous nomination, although of course you can still go ahead and include it if you want :)

I just finished this and its sequel. Standard fare for coming out/of age novels. Enjoyable, but I didn't find anything really original in the books. Perhaps I've been reading too many of these lately.

Still I am hoping I like his SF novels.

It's a good idea and I thought of doing it, but I don't want to annoy members with too many messages and I would also prefer that those who are regular participants in this group get to decide which books get read rather than those who just automatically answer polls with no intention of participating in the group read.

How does everyone else feel?

Debbie, I just used your first selection for the poll. I will include our nominations that don't get selected in the next poll.

I appreciated receiving the message that the poll was up. I understand what you mean about people who just vote without reading, but on the other hand, maybe receiving news of the poll would 'reactivate' some members. I don't log in too often but I do like to read the books. I can imagine I might not be around for a while and then something like a poll might get me interested again.

Nancy | 2838 comments If you look at the home page, you will see a link to the poll.

You should have also received a notice from me when the poll was posted. Did you not get it?

The poll just ended today.

If it's OK with everyone, I'll send out a group PM next time we are accepting nominations.
