Samina The Story Devourer | 87 comments I love it. I adore Curran and it was great having his point of view in the important scenes. It gave such an insight into his thinking.

I am also quite grateful to IL that they made it available for free. It was very generous of them.

don't read it until after you finish book 4, Magic Bleeds. THere is a scene in there that is in Curran's POV that is a huge spoiler if you haven't read MAgic Bleeds.

But yes. Curran's POV is soooo wonderful. I can't thank Ilona ANdrews enough for writing these short scenes in Curran's POV.

I didn't really see it that way. I really liked it though.

I agree.
It would be great to know what he thinks about Kate's sense of humour. :D

I love the scenes from Curran's point of view. I wish there were more of them. Plus, I think the short text message conversations are funny and there should be a collection of those somewhere if they really loved us.

The POVs are available on amazon, B&N and smashwords I think.

Anika (teddybear1) | 17 comments I just read from the link above, i wish there was more to read. That was a tease a short paragraph about what happened between Mahon and Curran. Well it was interesting but too short.

Mark E Cooper | 1 comments I just found this group. Glad i did because I love the Kate Daniels series. I read them and then bought the audiobook at Audible. Great narration.

I just got Curran on my Kindle, and I know its not really a novel or novella but I was wondering if it will come out in audio. The narrator does a great job with Curran in my opinion. So funny and the voice is growly exactly how i would expect.

Anyway, has anyone an idea if it will happen?

I just bought the Fathers and Sons book for kindle as well. Didn't realise it was available already. i think 70pence is worth it, and it helps the author :)

Arushi | 124 comments It just balanced things out for me. Everything was always from Kate's perspective.. so it was good to see Curran's side. Especially to know that he did not actually ever plan to threaten her.. it just happened. LOL.
I really want to read more things from his perspective.. he has a very.. well.. interesting... sense of humor and it matches Kate so well!

Samina The Story Devourer | 87 comments Did I say we all love him here?

message 15: by Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (last edited Feb 23, 2012 02:43AM) (new)

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I just finished the Curran POVs.

POV 1:
I think it was kind of boring to be honest. I love Curran but I missed some... fire in it. I read it and was like "Yeah, and?" I don't know.

POV 2:
I liked that way more because we got Curran, fighting (including Curran) and politics. These are my fave parts of the series.

But I was a bit WTF that injured Kate could win all those challenges (more challenges that anyone else ever had to fight of course *rolls eyes*) and that Curran who just got out of the coma could beat Mahon.

I was irritaed that we got a Kate POV. Btw, I agree... Why can't she just do what she's told at least once? It's annoying!

POV 3:
It was okay but not exciting. I wonder how Jim got all that info and Roland still has no clue where Kate is. It's weird.

Theresa (thesa) | 15 comments How many different Curran POVs are there? It seems like there's more than Vol 1 and Vol 2. Is there somewhere we can find all of them?

message 17: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 169 comments Mod
they are all on IA website.

Theresa (thesa) | 15 comments I searched the website and was only able to find vol 1 and 2. Is there a particular place I should be looking?

actually if you read through the old posts under SNIPPETS tab (from welcome page) you'll find the POVs and more there.

or here's a direct link:

Arushi | 124 comments I just read Curran POV of the Hot Tub Scene from Magic Strikes! Does that count as Curran POV IV?

Here's the link - Curran POV Hot Tub Scene

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I looooooooooooooooooooooove Curran!

message 24: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 124 comments I know!!!

I was not expecting this POV... I just checked facebook, and BAM!
It was good, and everything, but still, kinda flat no? I think IA just do not like writing about sex period, and it shows. I liked the other parts, especially what he thought of abt Kate wanting to protect him.

message 25: by Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (last edited Mar 07, 2012 01:53PM) (new)

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Yeah, the sex is pretty boring. LOL But since my focus is not on the romance, I don't care that much about that. Although... some really hot DETAILED sex scenes with Curran... Oh yeah! ;-)

message 26: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 124 comments You know... I've lost all hope. Or rather I am trying to lose all hope. They just won't write it out! It's weird.. but did you know that Jeanine Frost and one other author browbeat them into including sex? I think they just wanted to put in a few sentences or something mundane, but not any actual description. I believe they know its not really their forte.

message 27: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) You know, I think I'd rather have a sex scene that was barely sketched out, or a fade-to-grey type scene, rather than a bad sex scene. With the first, you can fill in the blanks from your imagination, but a badly written scene can kill your enjoyment of a book.

I cringe quite often at sex scenes and just kinda roll my eyes. In some books, they can feel so forced and frankly I'd rather do without them if they don't really move the plot forward. I also think you've got to know your strengths as a writer, and if writing about sex isn't one of them, then don't force it.

But having said all that, I'd love to read more hot sex scenes with His Furriness!

message 28: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 124 comments I know what you mean, but there are times when the writer has to give you something to actually move a relationship fwd. I hate it when they don't even do that. Not IA per se, but there are other books. Shrug. Cruel, I tell you.

But its also annoying when ppl are randomly havin sex every 5 pages, and all i wanna do is skip the damn thing, coz honestly, I just don't care, I'd rather know what happens next.

So much contradiction, but at least we understand each other *grins*

message 29: by Superbunny (new)

Superbunny (superbunny10) | 23 comments i wish they'd make a POV of exactly when Curran realized Kate was his mate-to-be. i wanna know what exactly convinced him she was mate material and when did this happen.

message 30: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) Arushi, LOL it's a day for posting contradictory comments! :D But yeah, I hate the sex every other page kind of book too. I do like a slow build-up, the way IA did with Kate and Curran, but yeah, it does have to lead somewhere eventually or it starts to get silly.

Bogwurst, yeah, that would be good, though maybe there wasn't a precise moment, more of a gradual realisation?

I so need to re-read the Curran POVs. It's been ages :(

I agree with you both. It's good when an author knows his strengths and weaknesses and takes that into consideration.

Lannister wrote: "But having said all that, I'd love to read more hot sex scenes with His Furriness!"

Damn, they should write a book "Adventures in the bimbo room". LOL

Btw, Bogwurst, I love that name. LOL

Arushi | 124 comments Sarah wrote: "Adventures in the bimbo room".

OMFG!!! Love it!! Love it!!!
IA are probably never gonna write it, but damn that would make an awesome story.
Imagine it more for the funny parts, or rather if it was done as a comedy, more than anything.

But then again, you probably want more of "da Hotness"

@Theresa - You're welcome :)

message 41: by Superbunny (new)

Superbunny (superbunny10) | 23 comments i know right! i was imagining more of 'misadventures' than some hardcore porn, lol.
tbh i think less is more, i just read through nalini singh's guild hunter series and book 3 was peppered with so many random sex scenes - it was like: dead vampire bodies, sex, dead vampire bodies, sex, dead vampire bodies, sex... it was very hard not to suspect necrophiliac tendencies for both the H and h.

message 42: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) Wow nice work Bogwurst!! You got IA on speed dial? :D

It's a good response but I think we were mostly joking around. The slut hut is for your imagination. Or fanfic.

BTW, from the article ...

"Fans react badly when the level of heat spikes unpredictably within the series. We all know to what I’m referring. The deluge of hate toward an author that did that was stunning. "

Any idea who they are talking about? I guess we don't all know what they are referring to (or possibly I'm just dumb!)
:D

message 43: by Superbunny (new)

Superbunny (superbunny10) | 23 comments i think what mostly got their attention was sarah's awesome title ;) sarah you should just go ahead and write a snippet on that, i'll be reading it!

not sure which author they were talking about though, maybe sarah knows?

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) Hahaha! I'm not a good writer but I still like my title.

I have no clue who they are talking about. You think we could ask there? I'm curious.

Well, one that would come to mind immediately for me is the Anita Blake series. It started out as UF, and from what I hear, becomes a free-for-all erotica/gymnastics fest. and a lot of people hate that.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I heard that as well, Jaye. Could be that IA is referring to that series.

message 47: by Neeta (new)

Neeta (cheetah_pita) | 1 comments Yup, LKH's Anita Blake was the first series that came to mind. Though I'm sure there are others.

message 48: by Arushi (last edited Mar 08, 2012 09:39AM) (new)

Arushi | 124 comments Mmmm I was surprised that IA put so much thought into answering us :) It was really nice of them!

I laughed at her sentence tho "Your sex is so bad, but write us a whole book of it please. Hehehe."

It was cute, fair, and everyone took everything way more seriously than I think anyone of us did. Shrug. I still want a comedy tho... oh well, maybe I'll just re-read the parts I find funny in the actual series and call it a day.

But I am also really curious abt the hate thing. I am gonna go back on the blog to see if I can find out abt it. I did not like that. KD is one my favorite series, and no matter how much I may bitch abt it, I know its an excellent piece of work. Even if I thought I had wasted time and money on it, I would not go and say that to the writer. Thats just not done. Maybe thats just me? But still.. I wanna find out who did that, and bitch about them. Payback, thou art sweet.

message 49: by Arushi (new)

Arushi | 124 comments Sarah wrote: "I heard that as well, Jaye. Could be that IA is referring to that series."

You haven't read Anita Blake? I like that series.

Yeah it changed, and I know a few people who stopped reading it, and I did just start skipping the sex scenes, but it always had a plot.
One quote has been used in Anita Blake many times. "If all you have is a hammer, then every problem becomes a nail."
The way the story developed, their 'hammer' was sex, and so thats just the way it was. The last book was pretty clean tho.
