Harry Potter discussion

You know as a first year at hogwarts you get the choice to have either an owl, cat, mouse, or a toad. Which one would you choose?

I would have an owl or a cat.

I'd also have either an owl or a cat. Too bad you can't have a dog though. I'd have a dachshund if I could have a dog, but I'll take an owl, maybe a black one with silver tipped wings that I would name Blackheart or Darkwing or something. I think if I had a cat, I would want one that was silver gray or reddish brown and I would probably name it Alistair or Marshwiggle.

If I were to get an owl, I would love to have a white out like Harry had. Thats a beautiful owl.

Oh, most definitely an owl. In that world they are functional pets as well. Also, with the owlery, they never have to be cleaned up after! I do know that birds can make affectionate pets, believe it or not, and having a beautiful, stately bird like Hedwig would be fantastic. Maybe I'd name it Wingardium (LOL) or Dasheill. If it were a little bugger like Pig, I'd have to come up with a different name, though! I like Pig. Hee-hee!

Owl. I'm allergic to cats and toads freak me out. I think a white owl would be very pretty, but I wouldn't really care about the color.

Since I'd probably be terribly afraid of an owl up close it would be a cat by default. Owls are definitely cooler though.

right you are, beth! i'd love to stay in touch w/ friends outside hogwarts so it would definitely be an owl. besides, like meghan, i'm allergic to cats and terrified of toads. yep, a snowy owl like harry would be fabulous!

i would love to have a black owl, the only way to stay in touch with everyone outside of school! but a cat would be cool as well

I think I would have to petition the staff at Hogwarts to let students bring dogs. I definitely want to take a mini dachshund. Childhood pet and they are perfect for keeping your feet warm! If they said absolutely not, then it's definitely the owl for me.

its really hard for me to decide since i'm a real animal lover and actually think bulldogs and crookshanks-species type of cats are cute and no one agrees with me. Lol! i think i'll get a cat[a really fluffy one] then and use either school owls or my friend's owl. second choice would be a pygmy puff.

Definatly an owl or a cat. If I got an owl I would want one exactly like Hedwig. If I got a cat I'd want one like my cat I have at home. (A Siamese mix w/ Balinese)

I have two cats, Charlie and Charlotte, so I'd have to petition to bring both of them. There's no way I could take one and leave the other at home! :)

I just like owls. they are awesome. I'd get a great grey, although I'm not sure what I'd name it.

Either a female Russian Blue cat named Luna or Argentum or a male tawny owl named Zephyrus. Russian Blue cats are silver colored. Luna is Moon in Latin. Argentum is silver in Latin. And I think Zephyrus was the West wind god in Greek mythology.

A pure white owl that I'm going to call 'Albus' because thats latin for white :)

I would have an owl!

I would love to have an owl (may have to get over my fear of birds - I don't mind all birds, just ones like seagulls and stuff :D but I don't think I would mind an owl) because they are very beautiful and the most useful. I'm allergic to cats, but I still think it would be annoying trying to look after one as well as doing school work - and toads are just not that cool.

Oh, and I would like a Pygmy Puff - they are so cute!

A cat. I love my cats and they always make be feel better when I am upset. It would have to be a really friendly an cuddly one.

Definitely an snowy owl! They seem so loyal in the books and have great personalities, as well as connecting you to the wizarding world by sending and receiving post...plus they look so beautiful and graceful!
