Just picked up a copy yesterday - I've read a couple of Murakami's I-novels, really looking forward to try something a bit more metaphysical.
on page 113'I'm only 16,' she said, 'and I don't know much about the world, but I do know one thing for sure. If I'm pessimistic, then all the adults in this world who are not pessimistic are a bunch of idiots'
Classic Murakami
Wow I love that line! I'm only a couple of chapters in but I really love it so far, the sheer oddity of the characters is really appealing.
How are you finding it Chris?
How are you finding it Chris?

I like this very much - not sure where you're up to, and don't want to give away any spoilers, but here are some more random quotes -
p 171
'a persons destiny is something you look back at afterwards, not something to be known in advance'
p 181
'I felt as if I had become part of a badly written novel, that someone was taking me to task for being utterly unreal. And perhaps it was true'
p 231
'In truly deep darkness, all kinds of strange things were possible'
A very cool book indeed.
