I'm looking forward to getting your take on it. The book is still very fresh in my mind.
I'm venturing into urban fantasy at the moment - just started
, the first book in The Dresden Files series. I'm loving it - I've been waiting a long time to read this series and just got ahold of the first 9 books. I actually didn't want to stop reading last night even though I desperately needed sleep, and all day today I've been thinking, "I don't want to work. I want to read!" like a whiny brat. :)

I'm currently reading
and I'm loving it! It is very different than most of what I've read in the genre. Also there is a primary female protagonist (I love that!) who is beautiful but nobody's pushover. I won it from a giveaway and I put off reading it for a while (didn't look my cup of tea) but I'm SO happy now. I'm going to have to see what else the author does.

Ooh, that sounds good - I just put it on my wishlist.
I also just realized, in light of the last part of my previous post, how much work am I getting done when I'm posting on GR & MR? I'm such a slacker sometimes.
Back on topic - I intend to read more fantasy this year, and not just urban. I want to branch out. I got some interesting things from Baen already, so that's a good start.

Most of what I read is some type of fantasy, dystopian, or post apocalyptic. I have started re-reading the Wheel of Time series, the first book is
and I am reading a dystopian type book right now as well, it is
. So far I am not totally loving it though. One of my favourite series in urban fantasy just came out today,
, so I will be reading it soon. :D
Christa, I have the same problem! I like to take long bathroom breaks with my pocketbook. :-) It keeps me from getting itchy and sneaking reading at my desk. :-)

LOL I don't have to sneak off to the bathroom - I work alone and totally unsupervised most of the time, at home no less, so I have to rely on my discipline. On days like today, that's not always enough to keep me in line. :) I gave up trying about 15 minutes ago - I'll make it up on another day. I never miss deadlines, so I guess I'm not too bad.

I'm reading a YA fantasy at the moment:
Pretty cool so far. Not completely unpredictable and the writing is quite nice.

I almost purchased that (I bought
instead (cause he's a MR author). I'm glad to know it's pretty good. I'm going to have to wittle down my TBR list to get to Arenson.

Can I say that I'm super jealous :-)

No, but it looks interesting, so I've just gotten book one, don't know when I get to it though.

LOL.
Here's why I'm asking (cross posted on MobileRead):
This series was suggested to me about a year or two ago and has been sitting on my Wish List ever since. I now have a gift card that I can use to cover most (but not all) of the cost of the 8 book box set (Kindle Edition). If I like the series, then this is a pretty good deal, as most of the individual books are $7.99 each.
So, I'm looking for feedback on the series as a whole.
Other series that I've liked, that I think might be similar, are:
The Dresden Files
The Hollows
The Southern Vampire (or Sookie Stackhouse) - [I liked the first 8 better than book #9 - waiting for the paperback edition of book 13 before I read the others]
Twilight [Specifically Books 3 & 4]
I also like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and am currently enjoying the Parasol Protectorate series, but despite their having vampires, I doubt either is similar to Morganville, although I could be wrong.

Christa gave it a 5 star review so I'm going to give it a shot. Who knows, I may just end up liking this genre. Either way, I'm willing to give it a try since so many others enjoy it.
